Morphide - Enter The Storm

I Morphide sono una female-fronted band alternative metal/progressive metal attualmente con sede a Copenaghen, in Danimarca. Morphide è composta da due compositori principali(Chris: chitarra, cantautore; Eissa: voce) e prende ispirazione da gruppi come Tesseract, Karnivool, Tool e Northlane. Iniziando come progetto di cover nel 2015 sotto il nome di Awigo Knows nel 2019 la band cambia direzione verso il materiale originale con un nuovo nome e rilascia il singolo di debutto dal titolo “Mayhem” nel giugno 2019. La band sta per affrontare un tour europeo, che copre Lettonia, Lituania, Polonia e Repubblica Ceca, previsto per novembre 2019.

Dopo il forte e potente debutto a giugno 2019, i Morphide sono tornati con il loro nuovo singolo dal titolo “Enter The Storm”! La canzone inizia con un’introduzione melodica ma potente, procedendo senza intoppi al ritmo del basso in forte espansione in uno stile che ricorda chiaramente i Tesseract. Con i toni ariosi della chitarra e la forte batteria “Enter The Storm” è rilassante come pure abbastanza strong e, senza dubbio, emozionante. Oltre ai suoni ambientali belli e suggestivi, ci sono voci diverse che aggiungono un altro strato di trama per integrare la canzone. A partire da melodie affascinanti viene mostrata la gamma vocale e la potenza mozzafiato, specialmente durante un epico ponte melodico alla fine della canzone. Combinando cantato clean e urla potenti e sbalorditive, la cantante di Morphide Eissa mostra tutta la gamma delle sue capacità vocali. Tutto ciò rende “Enter The Storm” un’uscita assolutamente affascinante da Morphide, che vale sicuramente la pena di far parte della tua playlist.

“Enter The Storm” sottolinea la necessità di agire per un cambiamento senza aspettare che un pastore mostri la via più semplice. Il modo semplice non è sempre il modo giusto e seguire gli altri può senza dubbio portare a conseguenze distruttive. Il video è stato girato da Aleksandr Sugak (vimeo.com/sugak). Morphide con “Enter the storm” ci porta un altro pezzo impressionante dopo il precedente “Mayhem”. Le sonorità che ascoltiamo fanno pensare a band progressive metal/alternative metal come Karnivool, Tesseract, Tool e Katatonia. Il progressive metal e alcuni slanci più alternative ben si fondono ad alcune sonorità gothic. La lead vocalista Eissa a tratti ci fa pensare ad Amy Lee degli Evanescence a tratti a Lacey Sturm. Il suo scream è sempre superbo e lancinante. La canzone poggia le sue fondamenta su distorsioni tanto ruvide, sul cantato melodico ed ammaliante di Eissa, cantato tanto espressivo, e su esplosioni sonore abbastanza imponenti. Ammirevole il bridge verso la fine della canzone. Il chorus si stampa nella nostra memoria a lettere cubitali ma non è la qualità più importante della canzone: è lo storytelling la qualità predominante, per una canzone progressive metal che sembra non finire mai….E noi più la ascoltiamo e più siamo rapiti….

Morphide is a female-fronted alternative metal/progressive metal band, currently based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Morphide consists of two main composers(Chris: guitar, songwriter; Eissa: vocals) and takes inspiration from such bands as Tesseract, Karnivool, Tool and Northlane. Starting as a cover project in 2015 under a name Awigo Knows, in 2019 the band changes the direction towards the original material under a new name and releases debut single “Mayhem” in June 2019. The band is about to face an European tour covering Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Czech Republic, scheduled on November 2019.

After loud and powerful debut in June 2019, Morphide is back with their new single Enter The Storm! The song starts off with melodic yet powerful intro, smoothly proceeding to booming rhythm of bass in a style clearly reminding of Tesseract. With airy guitar tones and sharp drums, Enter The Storm is as soothing as heavy and, no doubt, emotional. On top of beautiful and atmospheric ambient sounds, there are diverse vocals that add another layer of texture to supplement the song. Starting off with charming melodies, the breathtaking vocal range and power is being shown, especially during an epic melodic bridge at the end of the song. Combining high cleans, powerful harsh and stunning screams, Morphide’s singer Eissa shows full range of her vocal capabilities. All of it makes Enter The Storm absolutely mesmerizing release from Morphide, definitely worth to appear in your playlist.

Enter The Storm points out the necessity to take action and make a change without waiting for a shepherd to show the easy way. Single review:

Morphide with “Enter the storm” brings us another impressive piece after the previous “Mayhem”. The sounds we hear make us think of progressive metal / alternative metal bands like Karnivool, Tesseract, Tool and Katatonia. Progressive metal and some more alternative impulses blend well with some gothic sounds. Lead vocalist Eissa sometimes makes us think of Amy Lee from Evanescence at times to Lacey Sturm. His scream is always superb and excruciating. The song rests its foundations on such rough distortions, on the melodic and bewitching singing of Eissa, sung as expressive, and on quite impressive sound explosions. Admirable the bridge towards the end of the song. The chorus is printed in our memory in large letters but it is not the most important quality of the song: it is the storytelling the predominant quality, for a progressive metal song that seems to never end …. And the more we listen to it, the more we are kidnapped…
