Carmilla – “Surrender or Die”
Come nelle canzoni precedenti, “Surrender or Die” è stato registrato presso il Claustrophobic Studio di Gävle, in Svezia e prodotto da Ronny Hemlin.
Per questa registrazione Håkan, Daniel e Felix Björklund accolgono con favore una line-up in parte nuova che aggiunge energia e carattere alla musica. Il batterista Felix Forsberg suona la batteria nel singolo e si è impegnato a suonare la batteria per Carmilla nel prossimo EP, in programma nel 2020. “Dato che Felix è coinvolto in diversi progetti, non ci resta che vedere che tempo avrà in futuro“, afferma la band.
La nuova cantante Nathalie Astrada si unisce alla band andando avanti. “Sono molto emozionata per tutto il lavoro che mi aspetta con eccellenti musicisti che ora sono i miei compagni di band“, afferma Nathalie.

Recensione del singolo:
La canzone presenta sonorità chiaramente death metal melodico. Abbiamo riff superpesanti, ritmica blast-beat e un alternarsi fra growl e clean nel cantato della lead vocalist.
La canzone è aggressiva, il songwriting davvero buono come pure la produzione sonora. Opportune alcune parti symphonic. La canzone subito ti conquista e ti incita all’head-banging.
Carmilla già con l’album ”Deflector” ci ha offerto prova di grande talento. Con la nuova line up il risultato non cambia: sempre tanto talento da parte di questa band.
Carmilla ci fa pensare a Spoil Engine, band belga con la quale condivide alcune caratteristiche. Noi pensiamo che come Spoil Engine presto raggiungerà grandi risultati.

Carmilla announces new single/video “Surrender or Die”.
As previous releases, “Surrender or Die” was recorded at the Claustrophobic Studio in Gävle, Sweden and produced by Ronny Hemlin granting the Carmilla sound.
For this recording Håkan, Daniel and Felix Björklund welcomes a partly new line up adding energy and character to the music. Drummer Felix Forsberg drums on the single and has committed to drum for Carmilla on an upcoming EP, scheduled in 2020. “As Felix is involved in several projects, we ́ll just have to see what time allows in the future”, says the band.
New vocalist Nathalie Astrada join the band moving forward. “I am very excited for all the work that lies ahead with excellent musicians who are now my bandmates”, says Nathalie.

Single review:
The song has clearly melodic death metal sounds. We have super-heavy riffs, blast-beat rhythmics and an alternation between growl and clean in the lead vocalist’s vocals.
The song is aggressive, the songwriting really good as well as the sound production. Some symphonic parts are appropriate. The song immediately wins you over and encourages you to head-bang.
Carmilla already with the album ” Deflector ” offered us a show of great talent. With the new line up the result does not change: always so much talent from this band.
Carmilla makes us think of Spoil Engine, a Belgian band with which it shares some characteristics. We think that as Spoil Engine will soon achieve great results.
