Melotika – è uscito il suo singolo "Pressure"

Attiva dal 2017 e pubblica musica dal 2018, Melotika ha fatto colpo con singoli come “Crazy” e “Dancing Without You” del 2021 e “Digital Dreams” e “#1” del 2022.

Nata e cresciuto a Montreal e ora residente a Toronto, Melotika si è sempre sentito una solitaria e un emarginata crescendo. È stato facendo musica e raggiungendo altri che la pensavano allo stesso modo che si è resa conto di poter creare il proprio universo e la propria comunità in cui lei e tutti gli altri potevano inserirsi e sapere che va bene non inserirsi altrove. Si considera socialmente imbarazzante nella vita di tutti i giorni, ma sul palco Melotika è elettrizzante, energica ed eccitata, e si sente completamente a suo agio dietro un microfono o davanti a una stanza affollata di fan.

La spinta di Melotika a perseguire una vita e una carriera nella musica alla fine l’ha portata ad abbandonare tutto il resto della sua vita per lavorare verso i suoi sogni, e questo ha significato abbandonare l’università per concentrare la sua attenzione e i suoi sforzi sul raggiungimento dei suoi obiettivi come artista.

Traendo ispirazione da tutte le epoche della musica pop, Melotika fonde suoni e look caratteristici della fine degli anni ’70 e ’80, con influenze stilistiche e musicali della metà degli anni ’00. La sua musica diventa quasi sperimentale combinando così tanti stili di diversi periodi di tempo, ma è ancora innegabilmente pop orecchiabile e ballabile e non pretende di essere nient’altro. Cantando con un caratteristico registro basso, Melotika riporta una qualità da superstar grandiosa ed esagerata che è in netto contrasto con l’approccio indie moderno e essenziale per cui molti optano. Melotika ha anche diversificato la sua base di fan e il suo catalogo, tra progetti con il suo singolo del 2019 “Joy Ride” e “Bury The Bones” del 2020, lavorando a collaborazioni alternative con il rap-rocker Krosst Out e esibendosi insieme a hip hop, alternative e persino heavy metal band. Abbracciando le ispirazioni rock dietro l’energia della sua musica e dei suoi spettacoli, Melotika si è ritrovata a esibirsi di più in eventi meno incentrati sul pop.

Melotika ha incontrato il produttore Aaron Atkins nel 2020 attraverso un forum online per produttori elettronici, e i due si sono uniti per portare avanti la carriera di Melotika con un’immagine rinnovata e nuova musica, a partire da “Digital Dreams”. Con Melotika che è rimasta la produttrice esecutiva della propria musica, la coppia ha continuato a lavorare insieme in seguito, collaborando al nuovo lavoro di Melotika, Ultra Butterfly, in uscita nel 2023, un album che suona come l’era pop del 2009 in un universo alternativo e più moderno, immergendosi anche in stili alternativi di musica rap e post-rock. Melotika con “Pressure” offre un electro pop con refrain e chorus tanto ammalianti. Il groove ritmico è massiccio e trasmette vibrazioni fantastiche. Il feat. rap di Krosst Out su tappeti sonori distesi porta tanta energia al pezzo oltre ad essere una variazione tanto riuscita. Il beat tanto dancey e dark pop mi fa pensare ai Night Club, duo di Los Angeles o ai russi Omnimar. Stupendo il bridge che arriva verso la fine del pezzo.

I pattern sonori sono particolarmente indovinati e sia i versi ripetuti, che il chorus che i refrain suscitano tanto appeal. Ragguardevoli gli stacchi. Insomma è notevole il songwriting. Eccellente il livello tecnico: buonissimo sia il sound design che il master. Molto buono pure il mix. Come non notare anche le melodie indovinate e le stupende armonie.

“Pressure” è un pezzo agile, ardimentoso, ruggente, un pezzo tosto che non lascia scampo all’ascoltatore nel quale il testo si sposa con il beat e il sound.

Active since 2017 and releasing music since 2018, Melotika has made a splash with singles like 2021’s “Crazy” and “Dancing Without You,” and 2022’s “Digital Dreams” and “#1.”

Born and raised in Montreal, and now based in Toronto, Melotika always felt like a loner and an outcast growing up. It was through making music and reaching others who felt similarly that she realized she could create her own universe and community where she and everyone else could fit in and know that it’s okay to not fit in elsewhere. As a kid, music was where Melotika found solace, and singing and performing were the only things that felt normal and came naturally to her. She considers herself socially awkward in everyday life, but onstage, Melotika is electrifying, energetic, and excited, and she feels completely at home behind a microphone or in front of a room crowded with fans.

Melotika’s drive towards pursuing a life and career in music eventually led her to drop everything else in her life to work towards her dreams, and that meant dropping out of university to focus her attention and effort on achieving her goals as an artist.

Deriving inspiration from all eras of pop music, Melotika blends sounds and looks characteristic of the late ‘70s and ‘80s, with stylistic and musical influences from the mid-late ‘00s era. Her music almost becomes experimental in combining so many styles from different time periods, but it’s still undeniably catchy, danceable pop, and makes no pretensions about being anything else. Singing with a signature low register, Melotika brings back a grandiose, larger-than-life superstar quality that is a stark contrast to the modern, stripped-down, indie approach many opt for. Melotika has also diversified her fanbase and catalog, in between projects with her 2019 single “Joy Ride” and 2020’s “Bury The Bones,” working on alternative collaborations with rap-rocker Krosst Out and performing alongside hip hop, alternative, and even heavy metal bands. In embracing the rock inspirations behind the energy of her music and shows, Melotika has found herself performing more at less pop-centric events.

Melotika met producer Aaron Atkins in 2020 through an online forum for electronic producers, and the two teamed up to push Melotika’s career forward with a revamped image and new music, starting with “Digital Dreams.” With Melotika remaining the executive producer of her own music, the pair continued to work together afterwards, collaborating on Melotika’s newest effort, Ultra Butterfly, out in 2023, an album that sounds like the pop era of 2009 in an alternate, more modern universe, while dipping into alternative styles of rap and post-rock music as well. Melotika with “Pressure” offers an electro pop with such bewitching refrains and choruses. The rhythmic groove is massive and has a great vibe. The feat. rap by Krosst Out on smooth sound carpets brings a lot of energy to the piece as well as being a very successful variation. The very dancey and dark pop beat makes me think of Night Club, duo from Los Angeles or the russians Omnimar. The bridge that comes towards the end of the piece is wonderful.

The sound patterns are particularly successful and both the repeated verses, the chorus and the refrains arouse a lot of appeal. Remarkable deadlifts. In short, the songwriting is remarkable. The technical level is excellent: both the sound design and the master are very good. The mix is also very good. How not to notice the guessed melodies and wonderful harmonies.

“Pressure” is an agile, daring, roaring piece, a tough piece that leaves no way out for the listener in which the text marries the beat and the sound.
