Sqepsilon – ecco il suo ep “Pods of peace”
Delays, effettistica tanto curata ed arpeggiatori contraddistinguono “Swirling sentience”. Il beat fa sobbalzare il nostro petto abbinato alle spirali sonore. Più dancey si presenta la successiva “Skyline” con refrain particolarmente fighi ed un songwriting che funziona tanto, cosa che si può dire pure per la canzone precedente. Una canzone che ti dona tante ottime vibes: la ascolti e sei subito rapito. Alcuni arpeggiatori si stampano nella memoria immediatamente. Non mancano alcuni passaggi più ambient ed orientaleggianti. Bella la dinamica ed evoluzione del pezzo come pure lo stacco/bridge di circa metà pezzo.
“Pods of peace”, title-track dell’ep, presenta un mood vagamente retrowave ed ambient allo stesso tempo oltre che meravigliosamente etereo. Alcuni passaggi del beat sono particolarmente indovinati. Anche qui bella la dinamica e l’evoluzione del pezzo. Sqepsilon dimostra di avere un talento sconfinato nel mettere assieme groove ritmici elettrizzanti, sonorità stimolanti, armonie e melodie oltremodo riuscite. L’artista si distingue anche per una ricerca sonora e sound design maniacali.
“Step up” conclude il tutto con il suo mood sci fi. È anche un pezzo dove non manca un certo gusto per sonorità eteree, come già citato sopra. Un pezzo che secondo me è anche un po’ funky. I refrain/arpeggiatori sono ipnotici e i groove ritmici da capogiro.
“Pods of peace” è dimostrazione del grande talento di Sqepsilon, novello sperimentatore electro, un virgulto electro da seguire e di cui innamorarsi perché la sua musica scatena la mente, letteralmente…
