LOVE GHOST – SNAP | SYSTEM FAILURE

Cosa succede quando devi combattere contro una parte di te che non vuole la tua stessa realizzazione? Quando la depressione ti attanaglia e ti tira giù con la sua seduzione di comodita’ e di accettazione del tuo essere ‘meno evoluto’…

Nel caso dei Love Ghost abbiamo una band e un sound che non sembra piu’ quello dei Love Ghost di qualche tempo fa…l’inquinamento sonoro prende il sopravvento, grazie pure alla produzione del candidato al Latin Grammy BrunOG. Le chitarre elettriche vengono sostituite con un basso sub a onde quadre… tenuto anche abbastanza in sordina rispetto al resto della strumentazione, ma il riff mantiene un discreto groove.

Loudness esageratissima… non ho potuto alzare il volume oltre la meta’ come riesco spesso con facilita’ per produzioni ‘industriali’… frequenze forse volutamente spinte oltre la meta’ piu alta dell’equalizzatore, percussioni in stile indiano con loop di tabla modificata… sicuramente di provenienza identificabile per chi bazzica il beat making…riff lo-fi in sottofondo, voci strutturate come un Tao sulle frequenze… voce naturale doppiata un ottava sotto per Finn e un’ottava sopra (urlata) per CHZTER, la rapper messicana che collabora in questo brano.

Il testo mi rimane poco intellegibile, ma a quanto dichiarato si parla di reazione e metamorfosi, rifiuto della propria parte ‘sabotativa’ in favore di una personalita’ in evoluzione. Le frasi che mi arrivano comunque sono ‘blood on the floor’ (e ci ri-allacciamo a Glock, la precedente violenta release) e ‘I do want to fight you’ e poi il rap di CHZTER, c’è il flow e la sensualita’ latina pure…

Direi che la dark trap ha avuto il sopravvento sul sound riconocibile dei Love Ghost negli ultimi tempi; il cantanto di Finn rimane invece nelle sue marche stilistiche…

In the case of Love Ghost we have a band and a sound that doesn’t sound like Love Ghost anymore… the sound pollution takes over, also thanks to the production of the Latin Grammy nominee BrunOG. The electric guitars are replaced with a square wave sub bass… also kept quite muted compared to the rest of the instrumentation, but the riff maintains a decent groove.

Loudness exaggerated … I could not raise the volume beyond the half as I often manage easily for ‘industrial’ productions … frequencies perhaps deliberately pushed beyond the highest half of the equalizer, Indian-style percussion with loops of modified tabla…certainly of identifiable origin for anyone who hangs out in beat making…lo-fi riffs in the background, vocals structured like a Tao on the frequencies…natural voice dubbed an octave below for Finn and an octave above (screamed ) for CHZTER, the Mexican rapper who collaborates on this track.

The text remains unintelligible to me, but according to what has been declared it speaks of reaction and metamorphosis, refusal of one’s ‘sabotaging’ part in favor of an evolving personality. The phrases that come to me anyway are ‘blood on the floor’ (and we reconnect with Glock, the previous violent release) and ‘I do want to fight you’ and then CHZTER’s rap, there is the flow and the latin sensuality as well…

I’d say dark trap has taken over Love Ghost’s recognizable sound lately; Finn’s singing instead remains in its stylistic brands…
