Puoi parlarci un po’ della tua musica? Quando e come hai iniziato a fare musica?
Ho scritto, cantato e suonato il piano sin da quando ero una bambina. Ho sempre avuto una voce forte anche da bambina. Ho sempre amato ascoltare soul, rock e artisti alternativi nuovi e vecchi, imparando diverse tecniche da sviluppare, ma non ho mai sentito nessuno che somigliasse a me. A causa di questa unicità, mi sentivo davvero a mio agio scrivendo la mia musica e creando canzoni attorno alla mia voce potente.
Quali sono le tue ispirazioni per i testi delle canzoni?
A volte non so chi o di cosa sto scrivendo, mi siedo al piano, o con uno strumento prodotto e la canzone mi attraversa. Spesso scherzo, difficilmente posso prendere il merito quando ciò accade! Ho anche tratto ispirazione dalle relazioni e dalle forti emozioni emotive che ho vissuto nella mia vita personale, o che qualcuno vicino a me. Una delle cose più strane che succede, a volte compongo testi che non hanno alcun rapporto con me, e poi settimane dopo lo fanno! Lo chiamo scrittura premonitrice.
Quali sono le band che ti ispirano?
Sono una fan di tanti. Sono sempre stata ispirato dai Beatles per la loro capacità di scrivere un’incredibile canzone su qualsiasi cosa, Queen per le loro composizioni dinamiche e Bjork per la sua unica voce potente e grafica che è fuori dal mondo!
Hai studiato per cantare o hai fatto tutto da sola?
Ho avuto la fortuna di essere nata con la capacità di cantare. Quando avevo 3 anni ho svegliato mia madre dal letto per cantare per lei perché pensavo che la mia voce suonasse forte e strana. Saltò di gioia mentre entrambi ci rendevamo conto che avevo talento per il canto. Ho iniziato a vedere il mio coach vocale Mark Baxter quando avevo 8 anni. Mi ha aiutato a proteggere la mia voce dai danni e ad esibirsi al meglio delle mie capacità da allora.
Come nascono le tue canzoni? Che tipo di ambiente crei per te stessa quando scrivi una canzone?
Ogni canzone arriva in modo diverso. A volte sono sola al mio piano, sento attraverso la musica e registra mentre vado. È così che ho scritto il mio singolo “Mayberry Heart”. Altre volte sono in un ambiente di studio, lavorando con altri musicisti o produttori e la canzone si riunisce naturalmente con il resto della musica.
Puoi dire qualcosa su “You lost it all” (canzone, testi, video, ecc.)?
Ho lavorato a questo singolo con il produttore Anthony Resta e l’ingegnere Karyadi Sutedja allo Studio Bopnique di Los Angeles. Adoro lavorare in un ambiente in cui creiamo davvero i nostri suoni per dare vita al pezzo. Non ci sono campioni nel singolo. Tutto ciò che senti è stato creato o suonato in modo organico da noi. C’è una transizione nella canzone che è in realtà il mio grande orecchini a cerchio che ho indossato il giorno della registrazione, usato sulla fine della macchina del tuono! L’idea del video mi è venuta in studio quando stavo lavorando alla canzone. Ho messo insieme le storyboard e incontrato la Luxe Life Productions per girare il mio film in stile noir.
Attualmente stai registrando il tuo album a Los Angeles con il produttore Anthony Resta. Com’è lavorare con lui?
Abbiamo immediatamente cliccato nel momento in cui ci siamo collegati per la prima volta. Abbiamo una visione del mondo molto simile e completa la storia d’amore con la creazione. Essendo lo studio con il produttore Anthony Resta e l’ingegnere Karyadi Sutedja fa parte di una squadra di astronavi esperte, esplorando il cosmo. Tutti sono così abili nel loro lavoro e i risultati della collaborazione sono la scoperta di qualcosa di nuovo che non è mai esistito prima di quel momento.
Com’è la scena musicale a Los Angeles?
Non sorprende che una grande quantità di persone che vivono a Los Angeles lavorano nell’intrattenimento. È un ottimo posto per connettersi con tutti e chiunque nel settore. Ciò che amo è che vedo una grande rinascita di artisti indipendenti che spingono in realtà le loro carriere. Ci sono molti posti fantastici a Los Angeles per vedere concerti di qualsiasi genere.
Nel mondo di oggi qual è il ruolo della musica?
Proprio come ogni arte, la musica è un modo in cui gli umani condividono le nostre storie più profonde. Possiamo esprimere attraverso la musica in un modo multidimensionale. La musica guarisce e ci collega tutti. Ciò non significa che l’industria musicale moderna sia priva di difetti, ma credo che la musica e l’arte di qualità saliranno sempre al vertice e connetteranno le persone.
Oltre alla musica, quali arti preferisci?
Scrivo poesie e storie, recito e ballo. Mi piace anche guardare spettacoli e film e mi piace molto cucinare! Suppongo di essere una persona estremamente appassionata, haha.
Con quale band o musicista vivo o morto vorresti condividere il palco?
Per gli artisti che sono passati, mi sarebbe piaciuto esibirmi con David Bowie, che sogno! Per gli artisti che sono vivi, mi piacerebbe esibirmi con i Gorillaz o Bjork.

Can you tell us a bit about your music? When and how did you start making music?
I have been writing, singing and playing piano since I was a little girl. I’ve always had a strong voice even as a child. Ive always loved listening to soul, rock, and alternative artists new and old, learning different techniques to develop, but I never heard anyone that sounded quite like me. Because of this uniqueness, I felt really comfortable writing my own music and creating songs around my powerful voice.
What are your inspirations for song lyrics?
Sometimes I don’t know who or what I am writing about, I just sit down at the piano, or with a produced instrumental and the song comes through me. I often joke I can hardly take the credit when that happens! I have also drawn inspiration from relationships and strong emotional releases I’ve experienced in my personal life, or that someone close to me has. One of the strangest things that happens, is I sometimes compose lyrics that have no relation to me, and then weeks later they do! I call it premonition writing.
What are the bands that inspire you?
Thats a tough one I am a fan of so many. I’ve always been inspired by the Beatles for their ability to write an incredible song about anything, Queen for their dynamic compositions and Bjork for her unique powerful voice and visuals that are out of this world!
Did you study to sing or did you do it all by yourself?
I was lucky enough to be born with the ability to sing. When I was 3 years old I woke my mom up out of bed to sing for her because I thought my voice sounded loud and odd. She jumped for joy as we both realized I had a talent for singing. I began seeing my vocal trainer Mark Baxter when I was 8 years old. He has been helping me to protect my voice from damage, and perform to the best of my ability ever since.
How do your songs come to life? What kind of environment do you create for yourself when you’re writing a song?
Every song comes together differently. Sometimes I’m alone at my piano, feeling through the music and recording as I go. That’s how I wrote my “Mayberry Heart” single. Other times I am in a studio environment, working with other musicians or producers and the song comes together naturally with the rest of the music.
Can you tell anything about “You lost it all”(song, lyrics, video etc)?
I worked on this single with producer Anthony Resta and engineer Karyadi Sutedja at Studio Bopnique in LA. I love working in an environment where we are really creating our own sounds to bring the piece to life. There are no samples in the single. Everything you hear was organically created or played by us. There’s a transition in the song that is actually my large hoop earrings I wore the day of recording, used on the end of thunder machine! The video idea came to me into studio when I was working on the song. I put together the story boards and met up with Luxe Life Productions to shoot my twisted film noir style video.
You are currently recording your album in Los Angeles with producer Anthony Resta. What is it like working with him?
We instantly clicked the moment we first connected. We have a very similar world view and complete love affair with creation. Being the studio with producer Anthony Resta and engineer Karyadi Sutedja is being a part of an expert spaceship crew, exploring the cosmos. Everyone is so skilled at their work and the collaboration results is a discovery of something new that never existed before that moment.
How is the music scene in Los Angeles?
It’s no surprise a large amount of the people living in LA work in entertainment. It’s a great place to be to connect with everyone and anyone in the industry. What I love is I am seeing a large resurgence of independent artists really pushing their careers forward. There’s a lot of great venues in LA to see acts of any genre.
In today’s world what is the role of music?
Much like any art, music is a way humans share our deepest stories. We can express through music in a multidimensional way. Music heals and connects us all. That doesn’t mean the modern music industry is without faults, but I believe quality music and art will always rise to the top and connect people.
In addition to music, which arts do you prefer?
I write poetry and stories, I act, and I dance. I also love watching shows and movies, and I really love to cook! I suppose I am an exceedingly passionate person haha.
What band or musician dead or alive would you share the stage with?
For artists that have passed, I would’ve loved to perform with David Bowie, what a dream! For artists that are alive, I’d love to perform with the Gorillaz or Bjork.
