Vala – è uscito il video di “Baddest Bitch”
Vala è una rapper e cantautrice di Boston, che attualmente risiede a New York. Molte delle sue canzoni si concentrano sulla salute mentale e sulla dipendenza, mentre si sforza di cambiare le percezioni e aumentare la consapevolezza. Il suo lavoro è stato definito “grezzo, onesto e toccante” oltre che “rap impenitente”.

All’inizio del video, Vala è in una TV retrò quando un telecomando raggiunge la TV e cambia il canale nell’animazione in cui è Vala contro lo squalo in una serie di scene che vanno dalle arene dei gladiatori nell’antica Roma a scene in cui sta combattendo contro gli zombi. Tutto questo per creare un messaggio di fondo: abbi fiducia in te stesso e non permettere a nessuno di provare a cambiare chi sei.
Recensione del singolo:
Il singolo di Vala fa pensare a tanto rap anni 90 del secolo scorso, tanto per fare un nome sicuramente manda la mente a NAS ed altre cose simili.
Un rap quindi east coast di qualche decennio fa, un rap crudo, labirintico con questi suoni marziali ad accompagnare Vala. Il video si abbina benissimo al rap, un video retrò, old style, un video che vede Vala come una sorta di eroe dei fumetti.
I versi ripetuti senza dubbio catalizzano tanto il focus dell’ascoltatore e il beat semplice conferisce tanta potenza alla parola.
Vala si lega ad una tradizione rap del passato con la sua energia e l’invettiva nelle sue parole. In un mondo dove l’immagine è tutto, un’immagine perfetta, patinata, Vala mette al centro il potere della parola…

In this video (which is partially animated), the animation shows Vala vs. the villain – who is an actual shark, personified. At the start of the video, Vala is in a retro TV when a remote reaches to the TV and changes the channel to the animation where it’s Vala vs the shark in a series of scenes ranging from the gladiator arenas in ancient Rome to scenes in which she’s fighting zombies. All of this is to create one underlying message: be confident in yourself, and don’t let anybody try to change who you are.

Vala’s single makes you think of a lot of 90s rap of the last century, just to make a name it definitely sends your mind to NAS and other similar things.
An east coast rap from a few decades ago, a raw, labyrinthine rap with these martial sounds to accompany Vala. The video goes very well with rap, a retro, old style video, a video that sees Vala as a sort of comic book hero.
The repeated lines undoubtedly catalyze the listener’s focus so much and the simple beat gives so much power to the word.
