SQEPSILON – glisten
“Resolutions” mostra un ambient fatato, delicato, leggiadro. Gli arpeggiatori e i muri sonori la fanno da padrone su un beat semplice. L’effettistica contribuisce a rendere il tutto tanto magico. Come non notare l’afflato sci fi presente in questa canzone tanto sognante. Segue “Soft silver” che ha un beat più tribale ed alcuni arpeggiatori in comune con la traccia precedente. I synth sempre tanto luminosi ed evocativi allo stesso tempo. Il groove ritmico a tratti diventa abbastanza intrigante e ci piace come si abbina ai synth ariosi che rappresentano un denominatore comune nell’opera di questo artista. Stesse parole le possiamo usare per i groove ritmici che spesso sono davvero cool e ben congegnati.
“Waves at sunrise” presenta un piano synthesizer, altra cosa che troviamo spesso in questo artista. I synth accompagnano in modo egregio il piano synthesizer e il tutto risulta come un ambient toccante, commovente. Come già osservato nella recensione a SHIMMER AND SHADE(https://www.systemfailurewebzine.com/sqepsilon-shimmer-and-shade/ )la musica di questo artista è tanto malinconica ed evocativa. “Waves at sunrise” verso metà pezzo diventa particolarmente intensa, stupefacente.
Poi arriva “Hinterlands” e qui grazie a questi arp synths e al kick dritto il tutto è particolarmente irresistibile. Mi viene da pensare a qualcosa di Giorgia Angiuli o di Miss Monique ascoltando questo artista. “Hinterlands” è la migliore della serie, senza dubbio, è quella con tanta attrattiva, super cool. Ecco The “Summit”. Ancora un piano synthesizer a rendere il tutto affascinante. Qui come altrove arrivano dei vocalizzi straordinari ed intensi. Il beat down-tempo è magnifico, come non notarlo.
Cycles è “liquida” e “acida”. Un pezzo che appare come un gorgo nel quale essere risucchiati, un pezzo che contiene anche synth luminescenti. Le spirali sonore e il piano synthesizer si abbinano in modo meraviglioso. “High and low chiude” il tutto con l’ennesimo piano synthesizer ed altre spirali sonore ubriacanti. Ancora tanta malinconia pure in questo pezzo.
Tanta ricerca sonora è stata fatta pure in questo altro disco dell’artista. Livello tecnico(mix, master, sound design) eccellente come sempre, non c’è dubbio. Inoltre, come già accennato in passato, l’estro di questo artista è da encomiare. SQEPSILON mostra grande abilità nel songwriting, nell’assemblaggio dei pattern sonori. Ogni tanto arrivano pure delle “sorprese” gratificanti. Anche le armonie sono proprio niente male secondo il nostro parere.
SQEPSILON mostra un percorso artistico prodigioso…bisogna solo incamminarsi sul suo stesso “sentiero” per provare emozioni, sensazioni e vibrazioni incredibili…In un mondo come il nostro nel quale sembrano essere predominanti follia, isterie di massa ed ossessioni per tanti aspetti, un mondo dove conta il culto dell’immagine, ebbene in questo mondo è alquanto virtuoso ed encomiabile cercare di creare un proprio percorso artistico con un sound ben definito, intenso e profondo come fa SQEPSILON, un percorso artistico dai colori sgargianti o dark, un mondo sonoro pieno di luci, colori al neon e bagliori traslucidi, un mondo sonoro espressione di una creatività strabordante….

“Resolutions” shows a fairy ambient, delicate, graceful. Arpeggiators and sound walls dominate a simple beat. The effects help to make everything so magical. How can we fail to notice the sci fi inspiration present in this dreamy song. Follows “Soft silver” which has a more tribal beat and some arpeggiators in common with the previous track. Synths always so bright and evocative at the same time. The rhythmic groove at times becomes quite intriguing and we like how it combines with the airy synths, which represent a common denominator in this artist’s work. We can use the same words for rhythmic grooves that are often really cool and well thought out.
“Waves at sunrise” features a piano synthesizer, another thing we often find in this artist. The synths accompany the synthesizer piano in an excellent way and the whole is a touching, moving ambient. As already noted in the SHIMMER AND SHADE review (https://www.systemfailurewebzine.com/sqepsilon-shimmer-and-shade/ ) the music of this artist is both melancholic and evocative. “Waves at sunrise” towards the middle of the piece becomes particularly intense, amazing.
Then comes “Hinterlands” and here, thanks to these arp synths and the straight kick, everything is particularly irresistible. It makes me think of something by Giorgia Angiuli or Miss Monique listening to this artist. “Hinterlands” is the best of the series, no doubt, it’s the one with so much attraction, super cool. Here is The “Summit”. Another piano synthesizer to make everything fascinating. Here, as elsewhere, extraordinary and intense vocalizations arrive. The down-tempo beat is magnificent, how can you not notice it.
Cycles is “liquid” and “acidic”. A piece that looks like a whirlpool in which to be sucked in, a piece that also contains luminescent synths. The sound spirals and synthesizer piano go together beautifully. “High and low closes” all with yet another piano synthesizer and other sound spirals. Still a lot of melancholy even in this piece.
A lot of sound research has also been done in this other album by the artist. Technical level (mix, master, sound design) excellent as always, no doubt. Furthermore, as already mentioned in the past, the inspiration of this artist is to be commended. SQEPSILON shows great skill in songwriting, in assembling sound patterns. Gratifying “surprises” also arrive from time to time. Even the harmonies are not bad in this artist in our opinion.
SQEPSILON shows a prodigious artistic path … you just need to set out on its own “path” to experience incredible emotions, sensations and vibrations … In a world like ours in which madness, mass hysteria and obsessions seem to predominate for many aspects, a world where the cult of the image counts, well in this world it is quite virtuous and commendable to try to create one’s own artistic path with a well-defined, intense and deep sound like SQEPSILON does, an artistic path with bright or dark colors, a sound world full of lights, neon colors and translucent flashes, a sound world that is the expression of an overflowing creativity….
