Lip Candy – è uscito il video di "Str8jckt"

Trovandosi l’un l’altro attraverso la scena rock di nicchia che New Orleans, in Louisiana, aveva da offrire, Thomas Goetz, Philip Dion e Alex Feuer, formarono i Lip Candy mentre frequentavano il college alla Loyola e alla Tulane University. La band divenne rapidamente uno dei più grandi gruppi rock di New Orleans, registrando il tutto esaurito in locali famosi tra cui The Republic NOLA e suonava spesso nella stazione rock locale, ALT 92.3. Poche settimane dopo la laurea nel maggio del 2021, la band ha portato i propri talenti a Los Angeles dove hanno deciso di proseguire la propria carriera.

Coniando il termine “Grunge Pop”, Lip Candy attinge da un crogiolo di influenze. In particolare risuonando con un suono rock degli anni ’90 e 2000 e mescolandolo con melodie e produzione pop moderne, Lip Candy lega i generi grunge, emo e pop in un modo che non è mai stato fatto prima.

Dopo il loro arrivo a Los Angeles con diversi singoli di successo, tra cui il preferito dai fan “Str8jckt”, i Lip Candy sono saliti sul palco per mostrare il loro spettacolo dal vivo, che è quello che considerano uno dei loro più grandi attributi. Con Thomas Goetz alla voce solista e alla chitarra, Philip Dion al basso e Alex Feuer alla batteria, l’esibizione di Lip Candy è da non dimenticare. Con l’avvicinarsi di un’estate impegnativa, la band sta attualmente andando in studio, con il produttore Blake Roses per finire il loro EP di debutto, che mira a ricordare all’attuale industria musicale come dovrebbe essere un vero atto rock.

Recensione del singolo:

Riff contagiosi e ritmica robusta per l’esordio di questa canzone. Poi entra Thomas Goetz alla voce solista con basso corposo sotto il suo cantato. Pre-chorus tanto melodico seguito subito da un chorus sfavillante per agitare folle di scalmanati. Che figata… Mi ricorda Green Day, Nirvana e My Chemical Romance: come se queste band fossero fuse insieme…Bridge nel finale con solo di chitarra apocalittico.

Il livello tecnico è davvero alto: songwriting classico davvero buono, molto buono il mixing e la produzione sonora. Da apprezzare anche il loudness.

Insomma, un singolo che fa fuoco e fiamme e vi sveglierà dalle vostre quotidiane esistenze grigie ed apatiche….

Single review:

Contagious riffs and robust rhythm for the debut of this song. Then Thomas Goetz enters on lead vocals with full-bodied bass under his vocals. A very melodic pre-chorus followed immediately by a sparkling chorus to stir crowds of rowdy people. How cool … It reminds me of Green Day, Nirvana and My Chemical Romance: as if these bands were merged together … Bridge towards the end of the song with apocalyptic guitar solo.

The technical level is really high: really good classic songwriting, very good mixing and sound production. Loudness is also to be appreciated.
