Seira – il loro singolo “Tomorrow”

I Seira sono una band alternative modern metal di Riga, in Lettonia. Uniscono gli elementi emo, metalcore e post-rock dei primi anni 2000 con suoni metal moderni per riflettere sul loro mondo interiore, la consapevolezza di sé e per spingersi fuori dalla loro zona di comfort.

Seira è stata fondata nel 2016 da musicisti affini che volevano suonare la musica con cui sono cresciuti, ma con una prospettiva fresca e personale e il proprio messaggio. “Mescoliamo le varie influenze di ognuno di noi per formare una miscela unica di metal moderno: il suono pesante e implacabile di chitarre e batteria è completato da paesaggi sonori scenografici post-rock e grunge graffiato, e, infine, entrambe le dimensioni sonore vengono portate insieme da voci melodiche e contrastanti”

Le maggiori influenze includono band come A Day to Remember, Nirvana, Funeral For a Friend, Bring Me the Horizon, Norma Jean e Boston Manor.

La band ha pubblicato il loro album di debutto Decrypting Parallels nel 2018 con i membri fondatori Staņislavs Silovs (batteria), Agris Midegs (chitarra), Pēteris Baumanis (basso) ed Egija Ziediņa (voce).

Dopo la partenza di Agris Midegs e Pēteris Baumanis, Arturs Krastiņš si è unito alla band nel 2020 come chitarrista e ha assunto temporaneamente compiti di basso per la band. Nel 2022, Ričards Cacurs si è unito a Seira come chitarrista ritmico.

“Tomorrow” parla, chiaramente e semplicemente, di lasciare il proprio lavoro. Se ti senti bloccato, incompreso, se le cose non sembrano andare avanti, lasciarsi tutto alle spalle potrebbe rivelarsi la mossa migliore. Musicalmente, il singolo è molto semplice e segue un formato adatto alle radio, ma nonostante ciò si attiene alle migliori tradizioni metalcore di essere pesante e dinamico. Il singolo è un inno rock ispirato al metalcore e all’emo, un rimedio per chi è bloccato in una carreggiata.

Recensione del singolo:

Il singolo-video comincia con delle sirene sinistre. Poi arriva la batteria, il basso e la chitarra in distorsione. Parte pure il cantato di Egija, lead vocalist della band che è tanto carismatica come abbiamo già appurato nel loro disco “Decrypting parallels”. Dopo la strofa arriva questo chorus irresistibile dove possiamo notare la potenza e l’estensione vocale di Egija, tanto abile a cambiare diversi registri nel corso della canzone. Poi ancora altra strofa e altro chorus per un songwriting tanto simmetrico, classico.

I bridge arricchiscono il pezzo senza dubbio e qui Egija raggiunge altezze siderali e il pezzo diventa tanto dinamico con un’evoluzione davvero niente male. Master, mix e produzione/editing sono tanto buoni: un pezzo da 85/100 per noi. Un pezzo con tanto groove grunge, come non notarlo, un pezzo con una ritmica importante…

Un altro pezzo tra alternative rock e metal che arricchisce il viaggio di Seira nella musica, un pezzo grintoso, un pezzo che ti da come una sorta di botta nello stomaco. “Tomorrow” suscita tanto appeal: riuscirà a conquistare anche gli ascoltatori più distratti…

Seira is a modern alternative metal band from Riga, Latvia. They blend the early 2000s emo, metalcore, and post-rock elements with modern metal sounds to reflect on their inner world, the awareness of self and to push themselves out of their comfort zone.

Seira was founded in 2016 by like-minded musicians who wanted to play the music they grew up with but with a fresh, personal perspective and their own message. “We mix the various influences of each one of us to form a unique blend of modern metal: the heavy and relentless sound of guitars and drums is complemented by scenic post-rock and scuffed grunge soundscapes, and, finally, both sonic dimensions are brought together by melodic and contrasting vocals.” The biggest influences include bands like A Day to Remember, Nirvana, Funeral For a Friend, Bring Me the Horizon, Norma Jean, and Boston Manor.

The band released their debut album Decrypting Parallels in 2018 with the founding members Staņislavs Silovs (drums), Agris Midegs (guitar), Pēteris Baumanis (bass), and Egija Ziediņa (vocals).

After the departure of Agris Midegs and Pēteris Baumanis, Arturs Krastiņš joined the band in 2020 as a guitarist and took up temporary bass duties for the band. In 2022, Ričards Cacurs joined Seira as the rhythm guitar player.

Single review:

The video-single begins with ominous sirens. Then comes the drums, bass and guitar in distortion. Also starts the singing of Egija, lead vocalist of the band who is so charismatic as we have already ascertained in their album “Decrypting parallels”. After the verse comes this irresistible chorus where we can see the power and vocal range of Egija, so able to change different registers during the song. Then yet another verse and another chorus for such a symmetrical, classic songwriting.

The bridges undoubtedly enrich the piece and here Egija reaches sidereal heights and the piece becomes so dynamic with a really not bad evolution. Master, mix and production/editing are so good: an 85/100 piece for us.

A piece with a lot of grunge groove, how can you not notice it, a piece with an important rhythm…

Another alternative rock/modern metal piece that enriches Seira’s journey in music, a gritty piece, a piece that gives you a kind of blow in the stomach. “Tomorrow” arouses so much appeal: it will be able to conquer even the most distracted listeners…

“Tomorrow” is about, plainly and simply, quitting one’s job. If you feel stuck, misunderstood, if things don’t seem to be moving forward, leaving all that behind may turn out to be the best move. Musically, the single is very simple and follows a radio-friendly format, but nevertheless it abides to the best metalcore traditions of being heavy and dynamic. The single is a metalcore and emo-inspired rock anthem – a remedy for those stuck in a rut.
