Love Ghost – pubblicano “Turpentine This House” / “Pointless”, singoli tratti dall’album “Thirteen”
Cosa abbiamo? Chitarre acustiche, ritmi lenti, atmosfera, nostalgia…

English version:
We continue here with two more singles taken from Thirteen, the new album by the project Love Ghost. It marks a shift in both musical direction and production, moving away from themes of danger, a “cursed” lifestyle, street culture as well as the vibrant, Hispanic-influenced collaborations that long served as a signature element of their sound.
What do we have instead? Acoustic guitars, slow tempos, atmosphere, nostalgia… And, most notably, Finn reaches new peaks in his vocal range—territory he has never explored before! It is, without a doubt, an atypical album.
“Turpentine This House” even comes with a high-quality, 4K music video. It reinforces that “English” atmosphere I noted in my last review. The burning house—a reference to Finn’s own past—resembles an old English cottage. Well, it’s certainly old; perhaps not strictly English, but it certainly looks the part. The grey, weathered backdrop contrasts sharply with the vibrant colors of the flames that appear toward the end—everything contributes to a sense of nostalgia, with an added, slightly disorienting edge. It has a distinct aesthetic. The acoustic guitars carry that rich Gibson tone—though EQ’d somewhat like a Martin—evoking the rocky, windswept beaches of Britain. Meanwhile, the lead electric guitar phrasing is strongly reminiscent of The Beatles—it’s all there in the material itself; I’m not just imagining things! Then, the emotion swells, accompanied by an increase in distortion, sudden stops, and an “emo” wall of sound that contrasts beautifully with delicate, harmonic notes.
It’s an autumnal record, perfect for this kind of weather—free from the madness of Halloween and Black Friday—and autumn is a transitional season of waiting. What remains of Finn’s past is, undeniably, emo—something that dances incessantly amidst the paranoias in his mind—but this time it takes a different form; his growth is already evident. It’s a true shedding of skin. Who knows what will come next!
