The End of Melancholy – Paradox Intention
The End of Melancholy è una band alternative metal/gothic metal fondata nel 2014 da Olly Lex e Peter Roff in San Pietroburgo, Russia. Olly Lex è attualmente la lead vocalist della band mentre Peter Roff è chitarrista e producer. Nella line up ci sono anche Roman Lane al basso ed Eugene Psychedelic alla batteria. Della band abbiamo ascoltato “Paradox Intention”. Di seguito ci sono le nostre considerazioni a riguardo.
La band punta senza dubbio a quell’alveo gothic metal dove sono situate band come Lacuna Coil, Stitched Up Heart e New Years Day. Non solo la band usa anche inserti industrial/electro nelle sue canzoni gothic metal/alternative metal e per questo ci porta alla mente anche sonorità alla Kidneythieves.
Olly Lex è assolutamente carismatica come lead vocalist e catalizza tanta attenzione da parte dell’ascoltatore. Tra scream potentissimi e parti in clean tanto melodiche Olly Lex stupisce il suo pubblico con performance di rilievo come possiamo vedere nel singolo “Peaceful warrior”(presente su youtube), opener del disco e migliore canzone a nostro giudizio. Splendido gli inizi electro della seguente “Genesis” e di “You never” a cui si attaccano scream lancinanti di Olly Lex su un sottofondo sonoro abbastanza melodico e gothic metal, l’essenza del sound di The End of Melancholy. Bello l’assolo di chitarra in “Nightmares are forever” accompagnato da linee sonore tanto piene di grinta. “The demon” invece contiene qualche sonorità più folk. “Internally eternal” poi è tanto malinconica e struggente.
I riff alternative metal/modern metal tanto grintosi sono un’altra peculiarità di questa band che stordisce spesso l’ascoltatore con sonorità o tanto ammalianti o tanto potenti. Il songwriting e la produzione sonora di alto livello sono congegnati per dar vita ad un sound sia vigoroso che tanto accattivante.
Una considerazione da fare sul cantato di Olly Lex: spesso ci ricorda(nelle parti in clean) quello di Sagan Amery della band alternative rock/gothic rock Hail Sagan di Los Angeles.
The End of Melancholy sa come portarci lontano con la mente con le sue impressioni sonore gothic metal intrise di vigore sonoro e di inserti electro. Per gli amanti delle band su citate come non assuefarsi all’ascolto di questa band impressionante che viene dalla Russia. Siamo sicuri che The End of Melancholy ha un futuro radioso davanti a sé…Quindi ascoltateli come abbiamo fatto noi ed innamoratevi della loro musica…

The End of Melancholy is an alternative metal / gothic metal band founded in 2014 by Olly Lex and Peter Roff in St. Petersburg, Russia. Olly Lex is currently the lead vocalist of the band while Peter Roff is guitarist and producer. In the line up there are also Roman Lane on bass and Eugene Psychedelic on drums. We heard from the band “Paradox Intention”. Here are our considerations.
The band undoubtedly aims at that gothic metal channel where bands like Lacuna Coil, Stitched Up Heart and New Years Day are located. Not only…the band also use industrial / electro inserts in its gothic metal / alternative metal songs and for this reason it brings us also Kidneythieves sounds to mind.
Olly Lex is absolutely charismatic as a lead vocalist and attracts so much attention from the listener. Between powerful screams and melodic parts in clean Olly Lex amazes his audience with important performances as we can see in the single “Peaceful warrior” (present on youtube), opener of the disc and best song in our opinion. The electro start of the following “Genesis” and of “You never” are splendid, to which the piercing scream of Olly Lex is attached to a fairly melodic and gothic metal background, the essence of the sound of The End of Melancholy. Stunning the guitar solo in “Nightmares are forever” accompanied by sound lines so full of grit. “The demon” instead contains some more folk sounds. “Internally eternal” is so melancholy and poignant.
The gritty alternative metal / modern metal riffs are another peculiarity of this band that often stuns the listener with sounds that are either very haunting or very powerful. The high level songwriting and sound production are designed to give life to a sound that is both vigorous and captivating.
A consideration to be made about the singing of Olly Lex: it often reminds us (in the parts in clean) of Sagan Amery of alternative rock / gothic rock band Hail Sagan of Los Angeles.
The End of Melancholy knows how to take us far with the mind with its gothic metal sound impressions imbued with sound vigor and electro inserts. For lovers of the aforementioned bands we are sure that The End of Melancholy has a bright future in front of them … So listen to them as we did and fall in love with their music …
