Da Dallas, in Texas (USA) Sonic Radiation, nome d’arte di Todd Last, è un artista solista che crea emozionante musica elettronica fondendo techno e trance.
La sua musica è ispirata da gruppi industrial come Front 242 e Front Line Assembly, gruppi elettronici come The Crystal Method, Depeche Mode e Astral Projection, così come la scena dei club di Dallas: Sonic Radiation attinge da tali artisti per dare all’ascoltatore qualcosa per l’orecchio, la mente e per il floor dove ballare.
Dopo un incidente nell’oceano delle Hawaii Todd ha lavorato duramente con le terapie di recupero delle lesioni del midollo spinale per recuperare le sue abilità ed iniziare una nuova vita. Continuare il suo sogno di creare musica elettronica è stato un primo passo importante verso la sua guarigione e il suo futuro. Sonic Radiation aspira a esprimere la sua speranza, energia e riverenza per la musica elettronica e la vita.
Sonic Radiation ritorna dopo quasi un decennio di scoperte con più miscele subsoniche chiamate Dimixides. IUnknown Records e Sonic Radiation presentano Dimixides, una trasmissione elettromagnetica di energia sonora in forma e funzione d’onda. Gli spettrali degli ultrasuoni potenziati emettono onde sonore ad alta frequenza nella mente e nel corpo, continuando il principio della segnalazione nei sistemi elettronici.

“Roentgen” è il nuovo singolo di Sonic Radiation, progetto solista electro techno trance proveniente da Dallas, Texas. Proprio come ci dice il titolo, che rappresenta un’unità di misura dell’esposizione ai raggi X e Gamma, l’effetto che questa canzone ti lascia è quello di una bomba atomica.
Il pezzo esordisce con una drum machine dai suoni molto tipici ma curati nel minimo dettaglio, martellante. L’anticipazione data dalla sola cassa accoglie poi rullante e sintetizzatore con effetto shivering facendo immaginare all’ascoltatore un viaggio nello spazio. I suoni molto futuristici e a tratti fantascientifici sembrano voler ricordare l’incontro di un individuo con un alieno.
La struttura del pezzo è graduale e cresce fino ad arrivare ad un picco dove tutti i sintetizzatori che prima si presentavano uno alla volta, suonano contemporaneamente creando un effetto di euforia e di picco massimo della trance. Dopo di che la canzone torna a svuotarsi piano piano e finire come è iniziata in una sorta di cerchio.
La nota finale molto reverberata costituisce una scelta molto felice facendo in modo che il senso di euforia trasmesso da tutta la canzone si attenui riaccompagnando l’ascoltatore alla realtà.
Todd Last, la mente dietro il progetto, grazie ad una accurata selezione dei synth, è riuscito nel difficile compito di trasmettere emozioni e sensazioni senza un cantato a costituire l’asse melodico. “Roentgen” è un pezzo che non potrà lasciare nessuno indifferente.
A questo pezzo assegno un 85/100.

“Roentgen” is the new single from Sonic Radiation, electro techno trance solo project from Dallas, Texas. Just as the title tells us, which represents a unit of measurement of exposure to X and Gamma rays, the effect that this song leaves you is that of an atomic bomb.
The piece begins with a drum machine with very typical sounds but with attention to the smallest detail, pounding. The anticipation given by the bass drum alone then welcomes snare drum and synthesizer with shivering effect, making the listener imagine a journey into space. The very futuristic and at times science fiction sounds seem to recall the encounter of an individual with an alien.
The structure of the piece is gradual and grows until it reaches a peak where all the synthesizers that were previously present one at a time, play simultaneously, creating an effect of euphoria and maximum trance peak. After that the song goes back to empty slowly and finish as it started in a sort of circle.
The very reverberated final note is a very happy choice by making sure that the sense of euphoria transmitted by the whole song is attenuated, accompanying the listener back to reality.
Todd Last, the mind behind the project, thanks to a careful selection of synths, has succeeded in the difficult task of transmitting emotions and sensations without a vocal to make up the melodic axis. “Roentgen” is a piece that will not leave anyone indifferent.
I give this piece an 85/100.
Plus “Roentgen” is also very cinematic and wouldn’t look bad in the Blade Runner 2049 soundtrack.
