MORPHIDE – Passerby (Infected Rain cover)

I Morphide sono una band alternative metal/progressive metal female fronted originaria della Lettonia, attualmente con sede a Copenaghen, in Danimarca. Fondati nel 2019 con l’uscita del loro singolo di debutto “Mayhem”, nei mesi successivi hanno pubblicato altre due canzoni e sono andati in tournée in Europa.

La band è composta da due compositori principali, Chris ed Eissa(sopra in foto), che hanno iniziato la loro collaborazione nel 2015, creando un progetto di copertina chiamato Awigo Knows, e, anche dopo aver cambiato il nome e la direzione della band, fanno ancora cover su band rispettabili come Tesseract, Northlane, Lacuna Coil e Jinjer.

Mentre tutti i tour e gli spettacoli sono stati cancellati o rinviati a causa della pandemia, le band hanno avuto più tempo a disposizione in studio. I Morphide hanno usato il loro tempo per pubblicare una nuova cover di Infected Rain chiamata “Passerby“, tratta dal loro recente album “Endorphin“. La canzone è molto tesa, aggressiva e dinamica, usando tutti i tipi di voce estrema, dai growls agli scream. Allo stesso tempo, la canzone mostra il suo lato emotivo con cleean, alti e potenti.

“Passerby” è uno spettacolo perfetto per un cantante, che richiede tutte le tecniche sopra menzionate e una vasta gamma vocale. Morphide ha raccolto la sfida e rilasciato una versione vocale completa di questo brano.

Morphide is a female-fronted band with strong alternative metal/progressive metal origins, currently based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Founded in 2019 with the release of their debut single “Mayhem”, in the next months they released two more songs and went on European tour. The band consists of two main composers, Chris (multi instrumentalist, songwriter) and Eissa (vocals, songwriter), who created a cover project pack in the days, and even after changing the direction towards the original material, Morphide still make covers on such reputable bands as Tesseract, Northlane, Lacuna Coil and Jinjer.

Presentation of the single:

While all tours and shows have been cancelled or postponed due to pandemic, bands got more time on studio work. Morphide used their time to release a new Infected Rain cover called “Passerby”, taken from their recent album “Endorphin”. The song is very tense, aggressive and dynamic, using all kinds of extreme vocals, from low growls to high pitched screams. At the same time the track shows its emotional side by having clean, high and powerful cleans. “Passerby” is a perfect show off for a singer, requiring all of above mentioned techniques and a wide vocal range. Morphide took up the challenge and released a full vocal version of this track.
