MORPHIDE – Orphan Soul (Infected Rain cover)
I Morphide sono una band alternative metal/progressive metal female fronted originaria della Lettonia, attualmente con sede a Copenaghen, in Danimarca. Fondati nel 2019 con l’uscita del loro singolo di debutto “Mayhem”, nei mesi successivi hanno pubblicato altre due canzoni e sono andati in tournée in Europa.
La band è composta da due compositori principali, Chris ed Eissa(sopra in foto), che hanno iniziato la loro collaborazione nel 2015, creando un progetto di copertina chiamato Awigo Knows, e, anche dopo aver cambiato il nome e la direzione della band, fanno ancora cover su band rispettabili come Tesseract, Northlane e Jinjer.

La loro ultima cover di “Orphan Soul” è stata originariamente scritta da Infected Rain nel 2017, una band metalcore female fronted dalla Moldavia. Per molto tempo la band è stata famosa per la sua cantante Lena Scissorhands potenti growls, che, tuttavia, non le hanno impedito di aumentare la sua diversità vocale, eseguendo tecniche come growls bassi, urla alte e potenti clean. “Orphan Soul” è una combinazione di tutte queste tecniche, che rende una canzone difficile ma interessante da interpretare.
“Questa canzone è molto speciale per me” – dice Eissa, – “È una delle canzoni più emozionanti che abbia mai ascoltato e volevo rispettare la band per aver sollevato un argomento del genere“.

Morphide is a female-fronted alternative metal/progressive metal band originally from Latvia, currently based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Founded in 2019 with the release of their debut single “Mayhem”, in the next months they released two more songs and went on European tour. The band consists of two main composers, Chris and Eissa(in photo below), who started their collaboration in 2015, creating a cover project called Awigo Knows, and, even after changing the band name and the direction, they still make covers on such reputable bands as Tesseract, Northlane and Jinjer.

Their latest cover of “Orphan Soul” was originally written by Infected Rain in 2017, a female fronted metalcore band from Moldova. For a long time the band was famous for its singer Lena Scissorhands powerful growls, which, however, didn’t stop her from increasing her vocal diversity, performing such techniques as low growls, high screams and powerful cleans. “Orphan Soul” is a combination of all of those techniques, making a song tricky yet interesting to cover.
“This song is very special to me” – Eissa says, – “It is one of the most emotional songs I have ever heard and I wanted to pay respect to the band for bringing up such a topic”.
