Morphide – è uscito il video di “Queen of Blame”
I Morphide sono una band female fronted alternative metal/progressive metal, attualmente con sede a Copenaghen, in Danimarca. La band combina riff pesanti con chitarre ambient atmosferiche, nonché voci pulite con potenti scream/growls per creare la sensazione di “respiro” della canzone.
La band è composta da due compositori principali (Chris: chitarra, cantautore; Eissa: voce) e prende ispirazione da gruppi come Tesseract, Karnivool, Spiritbox e Northlane. A giugno 2019 la band ha pubblicato il suo singolo di debutto “Mayhem” e già in un paio di mesi ha iniziato il suo primo tour europeo in Lettonia, Lituania, Polonia e Repubblica Ceca.
Presentazione di “Queen of Blame”
Ora nel 2020 i Morphide sono tornati con il loro terzo singolo “Queen of Blame”, un’altra traccia dinamica focalizzata su sezioni di melodia e ritmi pesanti. Mostra la bella voce pulita di Eissa e le urla profonde e tonanti insieme alla sua capacità di passare senza sforzo tra i due membri della band. Intensa e aggressiva la traccia ha questa atmosfera oscura che crea tensione e persino una sorta di ansia che supporta testi sorprendentemente profondi.
“Queen of Blame” offre una potente idea di infinita sete di beni avida ed egoista senza alcun tentativo di aggiungere anche un piccolo sforzo per raggiungerli. “Ci sono persone che pensano che il mondo debba loro fama e successo solo perché sono nati“, spiega Morphide. “Compensano la propria mancanza di iniziativa con la colpa delle persone intorno, del destino o di qualunque cosa gli venga in mente“.
“Queen of Blame” è il terzo video musicale pubblicato da Morphide e, finora, il più ambizioso. Più di 20 persone provenienti da 4 paesi diversi hanno preso parte alle “sparatorie”, avvenute in Lettonia.
Stephanie Zapolska, regista di “Queen of Blame”, ha portato un’intera squadra da Londra, i costumi sono stati realizzati in Lituania e la band è volata un paio di volte dalla Danimarca per un montaggio.
Molta attenzione è stata prestata all’atmosfera del video, mirando all’aspetto post-apocalittico di Mad Max e Fallout. I personaggi principali stanno cercando di costruire un dispositivo molto importante per il resto del dispositivo dell’umanità e assicurarsi che non finisca nelle mani sbagliate.
“Abbiamo praticamente usato tutto per creare l’entourage, dai rifiuti edili all’inventario sovietico. La sporcizia e la polvere erano i nostri migliori amici, in quanto coprono tutto ciò che è stato usato nel video, dalle macchine e dai vestiti ai vecchi giornali e pistole”, ammette Eissa.
Il video musicale è stato diretto da Stephanie Zapolska. La canzone è stata mixata e masterizzata da Myroslav Borys-Smith presso Jigsaw Audio.

Questa volta i Morphide ci insegnano come rendere i Lacuna Coil progressive metal. Eissa si destreggia tra melodie accattivanti e una ritmica molto solida: questa volta la lead vocalist dei Morphide sceglie un cantato più “morbido” offrendo comunque tratti più duri ed urlati. I refrain sono convincenti e la linea heavy di sottofondo è notevole. La canzone progredisce con varie sequenze ben attaccate una all’altra. Il songwriting è eccellente a nostro giudizio come pure la produzione sonora e l’appeal. Infatti i Morphide non ci fanno mai mancare una dose consistente di appeal. Eccezionale il chorus che suscita tanta attenzione da parte dell’ascoltatore.

The band combines heavy riffs with atmospheric ambient guitars, as well as clean vocals with powerful screams to create the feeling of song “breathing”. The band consists of two main composers (Chris: guitar, songwriter; Eissa: vocals) and takes inspiration from such bands as Tesseract, Karnivool, Spiritbox and Northlane. In June 2019 the band released their debut single “Mayhem” and already in a couple of months headed on their first European tour covering Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Czech Republic.
Some words about “Queen of Blame”
Now in 2020 Morphide are back with their third single “Queen of Blame”, another dynamic track with the focus on melody and heavy rhythm sections. It showcases Eissa’s beautiful clean vocals and deep and thundering screams together with her ability to effortlessly switch between the two. Intense and aggressive, the track has this dark atmosphere that creates tension and even some kind of anxiety that supports astonishingly deep lyrics. “Queen of Blame” delivers powerful idea of endless greedy and selfish thirst of goods without any attempt of adding even a tiny bit of effort to achieve them.
“There are people who think that the world owes them fame and success only because they were born,” Morphide explain. “They compensate their own lack of initiative with the blame on people around, destiny or whatever that comes to their mind”.
“Queen of Blame” is third music video released by Morphide and, so far, the most ambitious one. More than 20 people from 4 different countries took part in shootings, which happened in Latvia.
Stephanie Zapolska, director of “Queen of Blame” brought a whole team from London, the costumes were made in Lithuania, and the band was flying couple of times from Denmark for a fitting. Lots of the attention was paid to the atmosphere of the video, aiming for the post-apocalyptic look of Mad Max and Fallout. The main characters are trying to build a very important for the rest of the humanity device and make sure it won’t get into wrong hands.
“We used basically everything to create the entourage, from construction waste to soviet inventory. Dirt and dust were our best friends, as they cover everything that was used in a video, from car and clothes to old newspapers and guns” Eissa admits.

Single review:
This time Morphide teaches us how to make Lacuna Coil progressive metal. Eissa juggles captivating melodies and a very solid rhythm: this time the lead vocalist of the Morphide chooses a softer singing, offering however harder and screamed features. The refrains are convincing and the heavy background line is remarkable.The song progresses with various sequences well attached to each other. Songwriting is excellent in our opinion as well as sound production and appeal.In fact, the Morphides never let us miss a consistent dose of appeal. Exceptional the chorus that attracts so much attention from the listener.
