english version:

Marlon Bianco was born as a musical project during the first general lockdown in April 2020. To be exact, the one which saw many countries lock themselves inside their homes to escape a virus that was affecting many European citizens and around the world.

Just at that moment Luca Bianco, former leader of the London underground band Dead Coast, decides to change his destiny or rather stop and think, taking stock of the situation and go to the head. Shortly before, he bought a toy Roland for less than 30 pounds unaware that one day it would come in handy to create her first solo lp entitled “Life in Low -fi”.

Marlon Bianco is a name given for fun, because it sounds like a “joke” by combining Marlon, the actor of whom Luca is a big fan, and his surname Bianco.

He is my alter ego Marlon Bianco and he comes from the future from a cyberpunk-style city like “Blade Runner”, I’m like a comic book like “Nathan Never”, I’m not serious but at the same time I believe in it a lot. Marlon Bianco is what I am not but what I would like to be, my part free to express myself, according to the artist’s words.

The music changes, fewer notes, fewer chords, there is less in everything in most of the new compositions. So with a Roland and a mobile phone Marlon Bianco records his first demos, memorizing all the instruments and the new sound in his brain.

The texts are very cryptic, puns and images. Marlon Bianco loves the colors of words not the meanings. In October 2020 he goes to Margate East England where he will begin recording at the Ovo Sound Studio of Cathy Lucas, muse and leader of Vanishing Twin, a fairly famous band from London. From then on Cathy will give voice and sound to Luca’s ideas who will play all the instruments and take a different musical direction from the one done years before.

Luca has a bit more electronic sounds in mind: he uses Moog and 70s-80s synthesizers like the Juno, he plays everything and more. Cathy helps him put the pepper where he wants it by playing synthesizers and mixing acoustic and electric drums, in short, a duo that works and is listened to. The album “Life in Low-Fi” finishes being recorded in October in just 4 days: the collaboration works and the new instruments as well. Only one thing was missing, another song.

So in April 2021 Luca went to the studios of the electronic duo Monte to record the second single called “Soundglasses”, a cross between Battisti and Lino Banfi sipping a beer in front of a sea with electromagnetic waves, as Luca will define it. Also in April 2021 he put on his first backing band which he named The Clones, made among the most talented musicians in London.

On June 20th his first single “Summer Creatures” finally comes out, a song with dance rhythms and dark keyboards made up of only a few notes. The text is an invitation to go out and have fun in the so-called magical summer nights.

On June 25th Marlon Bianco & The clones are sold out for their debut on the very famous underground stage of the Shacklewell Arms in London.

“Life in Low-fi”, of which “Summer Creatures” is a single, will be released in September.

Review of the single “Summer Creatures”:

Simple beat and mocking electro refrain, like a videogame in “Summer Creatures” by Marlon Bianco which immediately, at first listen, transmits all its backward inspiration, both experimental and underground.

Beautiful the first variation that makes us think of a sort of electronic progressive. Hit the harmonies and contrasts that we find. The vigorous rhythm supports the piece and makes it so solid while the hypnotic refrains help to make it so captivating. The bursting bass is very appreciable. Quite good production, mixes and masters. The second variation to the main theme is also beautiful. So, even good songwriting, no doubt about it.

“Summer Creatures” by Marlon Bianco shows that this artist has an innate talent: with just a few elements he can unleash the “rapture”. Bold, audacious, Marlon Bianco amazes us and makes us understand that we need to use every element to the maximum and study a lot on sound research and songwriting. You have to work to get rid of incredible things: it is Marlon Bianco who made these words come out …
