MARI A - è uscito il suo video "Can’t Breathe"

L’artista MARI A è nata nel 1982 in una piccola città, Sanski Most, in Bosnia-Erzegovina, che a quel tempo era molto influenzata dalla scena pop-rock dell’ex Yugoslavia. Le ispirazioni di MARI A sono state assorbite dall’atmosfera rocciosa della città sin dai primi giorni della sua infanzia, sebbene non avesse un’educazione musicale classica. Tuttavia, iniziò presto a sviluppare il suo orecchio per melodie straordinariamente interessanti e composizioni originali. Molto presto si rese conto che le sue riflessioni sulla vita dovevano essere scritte su un pezzo di carta. All’età di 9 anni si è trasferita con i suoi genitori a Vienna (Austria) e ha frequentato la School of Economics. All’età di 11 anni è stata ispirata da pop dive e grandi artisti come Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Barbara Streisand e Michael Jackson e ha scritto la sua prima canzone d’amore in inglese. Il risultato della sua infanzia è una potente musica pop che infonde entusiasmo con suoni e melodie diverse: elettronica, rocciosa, a volte etno-pop, a volte acustica o al pianoforte. “La vita è colorata come i generi” – è così che MARI A inizia a scoprire la sua carriera musicale con le radici della sua terra natale nel 2004 da adolescente. Scrive canzoni in tedesco, inglese e nella sua lingua materna bosniaca e pubblica otto singoli e video in Bosnia-Erzegovina. Nel 2010 ha ricevuto il titolo di Pop/Rock Artist of the Year.

MARI A scrive, compone e commercializza se stessa. Scrive concept video creativi, modifica video e si occupa dell’organizzazione e della gestione di musicisti e spettacoli. Le idee creative al di fuori del songwriting vengono dalla sua stessa mente. Nel 2015 entra per la prima volta nella scena musicale austriaca come vincitrice dell’Austro Vision Song Contest (un’iniziativa dell’ÖIF) con “Sabah El Kheir”. Ha attirato più attenzione nel 2016 come candidato finale dell’Eurovision Song Contest 2016 “Wer singt für Österreich”. Il suo singolo “The One” ha convinto con 25.000 Mi piace sulla pagina Facebook di ORF durante una votazione online. Con sonorità che ricordano Alicia Keys, Beyoncè e Rihanna Mari A ci propone un R & B tanto allettante, un R & B opportuno a valorizzare le sue grandi qualità di cantante. Mari A è tanto espressiva e riesce a dominare diversi registri con il suo cantato che ci ha fatto innamorare di lei.

La canzone comincia con un piano accompagnato da cantato e beat tipicamente R & B. Il chorus è eccezionale: ruba il nostro cuore, davvero toccante. Bello pure il bridge verso la fine. Melodie ed armonie insieme ad un beat a tratti tanto pulsante rendono il pezzo straordinariamente esplosivo. Songwriting e produzione sonora sono notevoli.

The artist MARI A was born in 1982 in a small town Sanski Most in Bosnia & Herzegovina, which at that time was under great influence of the ex-Yu pop-rock scene. MARI A’s inspirations have been absorbed by the city’s “rocky atmosphere” since the early days of her childhood, although she did not have a classical music education. Nevertheless, she began early to develop her ear for remarkably interesting melodies and original compositions. Very early she realized that her reflections of life should be written down on a piece of paper. At the age of 9, she moved with her parents to Vienna (Austria) and attended the School of Economics. In spite of the economic education, against which she resisted stringently, she remained stubborn and held firmly to her conviction to want to make music. At the age of 11 she was inspired by soul and pop greats and divas like Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin or Barbara Streisand and Michael Jackson and wrote her first love song in English. The result of her childhood is a powerful pop music that infuses heartily with different sounds and melodies: electronic, rocky, sometimes ethno-pop, sometimes acoustic or at the piano. Life is as colourful as the genres – that’s how MARI A begins to discover her musical career with the roots of her homeland in 2004 as a teenager. She writes songs in German, English and her mother tongue Bosnian and publishes eight single- and video spots in Bosnia & Herzegovina, which were awarded the title Pop/Rock Artist of the Year in 2010.

MARI A writes, composes and markets herself. She writes creative video concepts, edits videos and takes care of the organization and management of musicians and performances. Creative ideas outside of songwriting come from her own mind. In 2015 she enters the Austrian music scene for the first time as the winner of the Austro Vision Song Contest (an initiative of the ÖIF) with her self-written ethno song “Sabah El Kheir”. She attracted more attention in 2016 as a final candidate of the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 “Wer singt für Österreich”. Her single “The One” convinced with 25.000 Likes on the ORF Facebook page during an online voting. In autumn 2019 her first debut EP “A Strangers Soul” with a total of five songs will be released.

She delivers electrifying vocals to a bombastically pulsating new song. “Can’t breathe” captivates with a strong, dynamic and honest emotional world, which is at the same time fragile and profound. It is about barrier-breaking worlds of a relationship. “Can’t Breathe” simply want to talk about feelings, about own mistakes, the inner self. And sometimes feelings are so strong that it ties your throat and you want to burst, because you’ve been silent for a long time and didn’t openly say what you feel.

With sounds reminiscent of Alicia Keys, Beyoncè and Rihanna Mari A offers us an attractive R & B song, an appropriate R & B to enhance her great qualities as a singer. Mari A is so expressive and manages to dominate several registers with her singing that made us fall in love with her.

The song starts with a piano accompanied by singing and beat typically R & B. The chorus is exceptional: it steals our heart, really touching. Nice also the bridge towards the end. Melodies and harmonies together with a beat so many pulsating make the piece extraordinarily explosive. Songwriting and sound production are remarkable.
