Love Ghost – è uscito Memento mori
Chi ha ancora tempo per ascoltare un album? Chi ha ancora tempo per farli? Con la formula della durata media dei due minuti e mezzo la musica si raccoglie in pillole e l’emotività si concentra in polvere compressa nella plastica. Scorre…e ti lascia lì col punto interrogativo, come dopo una sbronza dopo la quale ti ricordi solo che é stato bello….Si diceva che i giovani vivono come se non dovessero morire mai…invece qui abbiamo una nuova generazione che ci ricorda….che non siamo infiniti…che siamo caduchi…mortali.
Memento Mori…dal latino… significa ‘Ricordati che devi morire’, la copertina ricorda delle antiche illustrazioni inglesi di qualche famiglia nobile intenta nella pratica dello spiritismo…tanto in voga a fine 1800….
Ma spostiamo lo sguardo verso Finn dei Love Ghost(e anche qui eros e thanatos insieme) duetta con artisti emergenti messicani…e in Messico una delle feste più pazze, alla stregua dell’Halloween statunitense ma passando per St. Patrick’s day, abbiamo il ‘dia de los muertos’ che ha una iconografia e una estetica tutta particolare basata sulla forma del teschio intriso di decorazioni…
Ricordandoci che siamo di passaggio su questo mondo, celebriamo la vita…magari esagerando un po’…
E tra i piaceri della vita c’é sicuramente la musica… 7 brani (numero magico)…intrecci e inquinamenti tra generi, voci, lingue e linguaggi…tra Los Angeles e Messico, spanglish e slang. Il file rouge delle collaborazioni continua…. non c’é un solo brano con Finn da solo.
Interessante per forma e composizione Chronicles…cambi di ritmo e atmosfere…lo rendono quasi un ‘rap progressive’ in pillole, assolutamente da ascoltare.
The Monster Inside, il brano più lungo, una ballad di 3 minuti e mezzo…dove la voce di Plata Shail prende spazio e comando e complimenti per la scelta: bella atmosfera.
Spiritual Warfare é un brano che definirei hip hop nella costruzione, ma con un kick rubato alla gabber / techno o grime usato in maniera non ortodossa…fanno da tappeto i sospiri o gli ansimi, erotici o minacciosi come in alcuni brani di Megan Thee Stallion. Cos’ha di spirituale non l’ho capito…ma é colpa mia… il brano comunque spacca!
La forma di Love Ghost si sta consolidando. Adesso attendiamo che diventi matura e assisteremo a dei capolavori!

Who still has time to listen to an album? Who still has time to make them? With the formula of an average duration of two and a half minutes, music is collected in pills and emotion is concentrated in powder compressed in plastic. It flows… and leaves you there with a question mark, like after a hangover after which you only remember that it was beautiful…. It was said that young people live as if they were never going to die… instead here we have a new generation that reminds us…. that we are not infinite… that we are transient… mortal.
Memento Mori…from Latin…means ‘Remember that you must die’, the cover reminds of ancient English illustrations of some noble family intent on the practice of spiritualism…so popular in the late 1800s….
But let’s move our gaze towards Finn of Love Ghost (and here too eros and thanatos together) duets with emerging Mexican artists…and in Mexico one of the craziest celebrations, similar to the American Halloween but passing through St. Patrick’s day, we have the ‘dia de los muertos’ which has a very particular iconography and aesthetic based on the shape of the skull soaked in decorations…
Remembering that we are passing through this world we celebrate life…maybe exaggerating a little…
And among the pleasures of life there is certainly music… 7 songs (magic number)…interweavings and contaminations between genres, voices, languages and languages…between Los Angeles and Mexico, Spanglish and slang. The common thread of collaborations continues….there is not a single track with Finn alone.
Interesting in form and composition is Chronicles…changes in rhythm and atmospheres…they make it almost a ‘rap progressive’ in pills, absolutely worth listening to.
The Monster Inside, the longest track, a 3 and a half minute ballad…where Plata Shail’s voice takes space and command and compliments for the choice; nice atmosphere.
‘Spiritual Warfare’ is a track that I would define as hip hop in its construction, but with a kick stolen from gabber / techno or grime used in an unorthodox way…the sighs or gasps act as a carpet, erotic or threatening like in some tracks by Megan Thee Stallion. I don’t understand what’s spiritual about it…but it’s my fault…the track is great anyway!
The shape of Love Ghost is consolidating. Now we wait for it to become mature and we will witness some masterpieces!
