Love Ghost – è uscito “Decoy”
È interessante la svolta ‘grunge’ di Finn…meglio conosciuto come Love Ghost che pesca audacemente nelle sonorità anni 90 ma spalmandole sopra al rap latino più moderno. Ormai è diventato uno stile e grazie a lui riusciamo a conoscere star emergenti del panorama di Los Angeles e del Messico che altrimenti in Italia non arriverebbero.
È la volta di Katsu Energy…il suo cantato trap ci intrappola ricordandomi i nostri Blanco e Mahmood …togli le chitarre distorte e sei a Sanremo!!
Le parole del testo spagnolo ed inglese difficilmente intelligibili…accennate…intimamente spinte fuori dalle labbra, su un timbro di voce che ad arte si mimetizza col cantato di Finn; lo riconosciamo quando dice ‘maniac’ o ‘psycotic’…
Le voci sono molto dentro il mix, la sonorità dominante è shoegaze. Per le nuove generazioni suonerà sicuramente nuovo se non si conoscono i Weezers, Breeders, Fugazi, Sonic Youth, Slowdive etc.
Ma portano tutto avanti con quel tocco ‘latino’…il giro d’accordi simile a tanti dei Nirvana…ma poi c’è un twist con il rivolto di basso che lo rende compositivamente interessante.
Interessante, per le nuove generazioni, l’assolo di chitarra finale…suonato benino, non esaltante, ma è bello sapere che c’è …ed è notevole che gli si dedichi spazio nella nuova durata standard di 2 minuti e mezzo.

Finn’s ‘grunge’ turn is interesting… better known as Love Ghost who boldly fishes in the sounds of the 90s but spreads them over the most modern Latin rap. It has now become a style and thanks to him we are able to get to know emerging stars of the Los Angeles and other places scene who otherwise would not arrive in Italy.
It’s the turn of Katsu Energy… his trap singing traps us reminding me of our italians Blanco and Mahmood … take away the distorted guitars and you’re in Sanremo music festival!!
The words of the Spanish and English text are difficult to understand… hinted at… intimately pushed out of the lips, on a tone of voice that artfully camouflages with Finn’s singing; we recognize him when he says ‘maniac’ or ‘psychotic’…
The voices are very much inside the mix, the dominant sound is shoegaze, for the new generations it will certainly sound new if you don’t know Weezers, Breeders, Fugazi, Sonic Youth, Slowdive etc.
But they carry it all forward with that ‘Latin’ touch…the chord progression similar to many of Nirvana’s…but then there’s a twist with the bass inversion that makes it compositionally interesting.
Interesting, for the new generations, the final guitar solo…played well, not exciting, but it’s nice to know it’s there…and it’s remarkable that space is dedicated to it in the new standard duration of 2 and a half minutes.
