Love and a .38 – Hail to the night
Love and a .38 è un gruppo rock. Quattro ragazzi provenienti da diverse parti del paese, i cui trionfi, fallimenti e la spinta a suonare li ha portati tutti a Los Angeles. Nella loro breve esistenza sono stati instancabilmente D.I.Y. in tutti gli aspetti della loro carriera. Attraverso i social media, la creatività e un sacco di olio di gomito hanno accumulato un seguito mondiale quasi senza precedenti per una band indipendente e senza contratto. Non interessati ai trattini e ai sottogeneri, hanno adottato un approccio “per me è tutto rock and roll” alla loro carriera.
Con l’uscita del loro EP di debutto omonimo nel 2010 e una serie di singoli nel 2012-13, la band ha stabilito una solida base di fan, non solo nel sud della California ma in tutto il mondo, ricevendo riconoscimenti da lontano come il Regno Unito e il Olanda. Dopo diversi tour regionali di successo e un numero incalcolabile di spettacoli nei leggendari rock club di Hollywood, la band ha impiegato del tempo per registrare un vero e proprio album.
Love and a .38 hanno pubblicato il loro primo album completo, Nomads, nel 2016. Dieci tracce potenti che sarebbero ugualmente a loro agio in un piccolo club o in un palcoscenico.
La band ha pubblicato un nuovo EP, 7th Street Shuffle, nel settembre 2018. Con 5 nuovi brani che hanno preso le loro solide basi di rock and roll senza fronzoli e hanno ampliato il suono in direzioni sonicamente nuove senza alcun vantaggio che ha raccolto così tanta attenzione dal loro all’inizio.

Drumming imponente, cantato carismatico e riff hard rock classico subito ci fanno entrare in un’atmosfera di altri tempi, quando il rock vero, quello “scapestrato”, dominava. Soli e refrain di un certo livello ci accompagnano ascoltando questo pezzo. Stupendo il solo di chitarra e metà pezzo. Il sound di Love and a .38 ringhia nelle casse del nostro impianto stereo e noi pensiamo a band come Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath ed AC/DC. Il rock è un grande show e i Love and a .38 con il loro “Hail to the night” ci offrono uno show formidabile e noi ci immaginiamo sotto ad un palco ad esaltarci per loro magari con una birra in mano mezzi ubriachi. Nella loro musica si ascoltano anche impressioni blues e glam rock.

Love and a .38 is a blue collar rock band in an unlikely place. Four guys from different parts of the country, whose triumphs, failures, and drive to play music have brought them all to Los Angeles. In their short existence they have been tirelessly D.I.Y. in all aspects of their career. Through social media, creativity, and lots of elbow grease they have amassed a worldwide following nearly unprecedented for an unsigned, unrepresented, independent band. Not concerned with hyphens and sub genres, they have taken an “It’s all rock and roll to me” approach to their career.
With the release of their self-titled debut EP in 2010 and a string of singles in 2012-13, the band established a solid fanbase, not only in Southern California but across the globe, receiving accolades from as far away as The U.K. and The Netherlands. After several successful regional tours and an untold number of packed shows in legendary Hollywood rock-clubs, the band took some time to record a proper album.
Love and a .38 released their first full length album, Nomads, in 2016. Ten powerful tracks that would be equally at home in a small club or an arena stage.
The band released a new EP, 7th Street Shuffle, in September 2018. With 5 new tracks that took their solid foundation of no frills rock and roll and expanded the sound into sonically new directions without any of the edge that garnered so much attention from their very beginning.

Impressive drumming, charismatic singing and classic hard rock riffs immediately let us enter an atmosphere of other times, when real rock, the “wild” one, dominated. Solos and refrains of a certain level accompany us listening to this piece. The guitar solo and half piece is amazing. The sound of Love and a .38 growls into the speakers of our stereo system and we think of bands like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and AC / DC. Rock is a great show and Love and a .38 with their “Hail to the night” offer us a formidable show and we imagine ourselves under a stage to exalt ourselves for them maybe with a beer in hand half drunk. Blues and glam rock impressions are also heard in their music.
