Lexi Layne – Dominate
“Off the edge” sarebbe il modo perfetto per descrivere la cantante Lexi Layne. Lei possiede uno stile unico: crudo, sfacciato. Cresciuta esibendosi nel teatro musicale, passando lentamente alla scrittura di canzoni, i riflettori sono diventati la sua casa. Ora Lexi Layne sta lavorando al suo EP musicale che dovrebbe uscire all’inizio di agosto 2021.

“Dominate” è una canzone che celebra il female power. Dominate e il suo sound ti portano in un viaggio oscuro e industrial.
“Essendo io stesso nella comunità “Fetish”, i miei testi sono grezzi e provengono da esperienze di vita come Dominatrix. Con suoni di chitarre elettriche a intricati campioni di fruste e riferimenti techno sentirai davvero un’ondata di energia!”, secondo le parole di Lexi Layne.

“Dominate” mette insieme diverse sonorità: troviamo alcuni synth/refrain electro simile a qualcosa di Amaranthe, troviamo un industrial rock che manda il nostro pensiero a Kidneythieves, troviamo un dark pop/edm in stile Psy’Aviah, insomma un prodotto musicale alquanto composito, variegato.
La canzone comincia con questi refrain industrial/electro. Poi entra il cantato carismatico di Lexi Layne che cattura subito tutta la nostra attenzione. Come non pensare, a tratti, ad alcune cose dei Kidneythieves di “Zerospace”. Dopo 1,30 comincia la parte più rock del pezzo con qualche accenno gothic qua e là e con synth/tastiere che accompagnano il tutto. I refrain di chitarra sono tanto distorti. Il chorus è notevole, davvero notevole. Dopo 2,50 parte un kick rigido e un synth/basso marziale che ci fanno pensare ai Psy’Aviah, ad un dark pop/EDM tanto frizzante, energico. Poi si ritorna al rock col chorus tanto fiammante.
I vari pattern sonori si combinano in modo stupefacente creando armonie incredibili. Produzione, mix e mastering sono eccellenti come pure il songwriting. Il mix di generi musicali offre musica davvero cool, entusiasmante. Ma c’è una cosa che è davvero la punta di diamante: la voce di Lexi Layne, che rompe il ghiaccio, ti schianta al muro: cantato che trasmette tanta personalità, tanto carattere.
Lexi Layne si candida ad essere la “Dominatrix” delle nostre giornate con la sua musica “borderline”, “misfits”, musica che a noi piace e ci fa letteralmente perdere la testa.

“Off the edge” would be the perfect way to describe this power house of a vocalist Lexi Layne. She is very much her own style. Raw, in your face and unique. Growing up performing in musical theatre/competing slowly transitioning into songwriting the spotlight has become her home. Now Lexi Layne is working on her musical EP looking to drop early August 2021.
“Dominate” is a very alpha female driven song. The music itself takes you on a dark, industrial journey. Being in the “Fetish” community myself my lyrics are raw and come from life experiences as being a Dominatrix. With sounds from electric guitars to intricate samples of whips and techno references you will truly feel a surge of energy!

“Dominate” brings together different sounds: we find some electro synth / refrain similar to something from Amaranthe, we find an industrial rock that sends our thoughts to Kidneythieves, we find a dark pop / edm in Psy’Aviah style, in short, a rather composite musical product , varied.
The song starts with these industrial / electro refrains. Then the charismatic singing of Lexi Layne enters which immediately captures all our attention. How not to think, at times, of some things of the Kidneythieves of “Zerospace”. After 1.30 the most rock part of the piece begins with some gothic hints here and there and with synth / keyboards accompanying it all. Guitar refrains are so distorted. The chorus is remarkable, truly remarkable. After 2.50 a stiff kick and a martial synth / bass start that make us think of Psy’Aviah, a very sparkling, energetic dark pop / EDM. Then we return to rock with the very flaming chorus.
The various sound patterns are amazingly put together creating incredible harmonies. Production, mixing and mastering are excellent as is the songwriting. The mix of musical genres offers really cool, exciting music. But there is one thing that is really the spearhead: Lexi Layne’s voice, which breaks the ice, crashes you to the wall: singing that conveys so much personality, so much character.
Lexi Layne is a candidate to be the “Dominatrix” of our days with her “borderline” music, “misfits”, music that we like and literally makes us lose our minds.
