Intervista a Traumatone

Benvenuto nel nostro sito di musica. Come si è formata la vostra band? Come vi siete incontrati?

Grazie! Tutte persone fantastiche! Adoro condividere il palco con loro!

Come prende forma una canzone Traumatone?

Molti modi diversi.

Come mai?

Mi diverto solo a giocare.

Puoi dirmi qualcosa sui tuoi progetti futuri?

Welcome to our music site. How was your band formed? How did you meet?

Thank you! Glad to be a part of the site. The live band was formed as a live act to bring the music of Traumatone to the stage. For the vast majority of Traumatone’s existence, it was just me putting out music on my own. Then things just fell into place when myself and a friend started playing the songs together. Within a few weeks, we had a full band after placing a couple of ads for a drummer and bass player. All great people! I love sharing the stage with them!

How does a Traumatone song take shape?

Many different ways. Sometimes it’s a guitar riff. Sometimes a beat, or a melody found on a piano. A lot of the time it’s just something I hear in my head. Then I figure out how to play it on whatever instrument sounds best and just build from there. The music is always first. Lyrics are a challenge for me, so vocals are always the very last thing to go onto a song.

How did you create your sound? I have heard that it is a hybrid of musical genres… tell me something about it…

I can’t say that the sound is intentional. It’s just what comes out of me. I have always been drawn to the heavy, dark, melodic sound. But in reality, I love all kinds of music. Not just the dark, heavy sound. I think a big part of why the music sounds the way it does is because of a lot of the feelings and experiences I’ve endured in life. Music is an expression of the heart. With this gift, I can turn feelings into sound. If the music gets any credit for sounding unique, it’s just because of what comes out of the person creating it. I’ve never had the thought of wanting to sound a certain way or like a certain band.

“Hereafter” is your album. What are the lyrics about?

With these songs, the lyrics became personal for the first time. I almost never sing about anything personal. But when emotions run high, creativity is at its peak. I decided to go with it this time. “The Craving” was the only song that was written from an observational standpoint about people who almost seemingly live for dispute and argument. “Limerence” was written about someone who is extremely special to me. “Eclipse” is about seeing something bad coming and knowing it’s going to hurt, but there’s nothing you can do to stop it no matter how hard you try. “Ghost” is about personal loss and the feelings of grief that come with that. “Restraint” is the internal fight to keep a brewing emotional anger from escaping.

On which stage do you dream of playing? Why?

Honestly, I’ve never really had big aspirations to play on any particular stage. I just want to play music and touch lives. You can do that in a room of ten people, and sometimes to a stronger degree, just as much as a big stage. I just enjoy playing. Doesn’t matter where.

What if your music were a book, a film, or a painting?

That’s a great question! If it were a book or movie, I’d say it would be a character’s personal journey of navigating life in a broken world. All the relationships and experiences that come with that. Although, I think many artists can say that. I would add on the question of where do we go from here though. If it were a painting, I would say it would be something incorporating black, white, grey, dark blue, and red. These are the colors I tend to associate with these sounds.

Besides music, which arts are you passionate about?

I am really intrigued by dance! Watching choreographers map out a story or an emotion with moves along with music is so interesting and beautiful to me! Photography is also a big interest. I personally feel capturing the beauty of an environment, or emotions in a photo is something special that is not always so easy to do. Takes a talented person to do something like that. Sometimes I wish I had the ability to paint or draw, but I just don’t do well in that area. My lane is music.

We are in a world in a climate, health, and geopolitical crisis. What is the role of music in this world?

That depends on the one creating and the one listening. Some use music to push a message which sometimes fuels the fire. Others use it to pull us away from that and bring comfort, joy, or escape. Same with those who listen. Some use music to fuel their fire. Others use it because they need comfort, joy, or escape.

How is the independent music scene in Arizona?

The scene in Arizona is very strong! A lot of very talented musicians and artists. I think the music scene in Phoenix is sometimes overlooked because, although it’s a major US city, it’s a smaller market. But there are some hidden treasures to be found here!

Can you tell me something about your future projects?

Right now, we’re just working on getting the new music ready to play live. Hopefully we can get one or two music videos done this year. We’ll just see what opportunities come up. But there are still plenty of unreleased songs sitting around. Who knows what that will turn into?
