Intervista a Mari A
1)Puoi parlarci un pò della tua musica?
La mia musica è un’espressione di me, della mia identità, delle mie radici e delle mie esperienze di vita. Mi rappresenta in un certo modo. Scrivo e compongo la mia musica da sola. È una fusione di pop, rock, soul, r’nB e soul. Adoro il Soul e la Blues Music, mi sento più a mio agio quando lo canto, si adatta bene alla mia interpretazione e mi diverto quando lo canto.
2) Quando e come hai iniziato a fare musica?
Da bambina, ascoltavo la musica della scena ex-yu-pop-rock. Ho scoperto molto presto la passione e l’amore per il canto, penso a 3 o 4 anni, quando iniziai a salire sul mio letto e cantare le mie pipe. Ho divertito tutti i membri della famiglia.
3) “Can’t breathe” è ufficialmente uscito. Come è nato?
Ho scritto “Can’t breathe” 4 anni fa. Non ricordo, se i testi o la melodia sono venuti prima, ma sapevo, volevo qualcosa di dinamico, esplosivo, qualcosa di forte. Non ho parlato per anni di un argomento che mi disturba, soprattutto perché nessuno ha capito di cosa sto parlando. Penso che questa canzone sia stata un enorme vulcano, come risultato di tutti gli anni di silenzio. Si tratta di rompere muri, si tratta di connessioni speciali: siamo tutti collegati in questo mondo, con fili invisibili come quelli di Wlan. Sai, quando pensi a qualcuno, e nello stesso momento ricevi una chiamata da questa persona. È una specie di filosofia, con un significato profondo – “la nostra vita si sta muovendo e stiamo muovendo le nostre vite” controlliamo la nostra vita, ma alla fine la vita ci sta spostando senza il nostro controllo. Mi piace scrivere testi profondi con un messaggio specifico. Quindi tutti possono trovarsi in esso.
4) Quali sono le tue ispirazioni per i testi delle canzoni?
Sono una persona molto aperta, comunicativa, ma anche molto sensibile: devi solo essere molto aperta, se vuoi ricevere qualcosa in cambio o venire da te se fai qualcosa di creativo. Ho il talento per visualizzare situazioni, atmosfere o tutto ciò che è “intermedio” tra gli umani. Quindi se succede qualcosa nella mia vita, cosa è inusuale per me, lo scrivo come una teoria, sai, come uno scienziato. Sto sempre ricercando campi umani, analizzandoli. Sono una grande amante umana e se una situazione mi riguarda, i miei sentimenti, devo cantare, per liberare i miei sentimenti. Ho bisogno sempre di alcuni riassunti di una relazione, ad esempio, analizzare i risultati di un ending, avere una risposta, che ti porta ad essere più intelligente la prossima volta.
5) Come nascono le tue canzoni? Che tipo di ambiente crei per te stessa quando scrivi una canzone?
Hm, io in realtà non scrivo spesso canzoni. Non mi spingo. So solo che ogni canzone è arrivata in situazioni in cui ero totalmente rilassata. Soprattutto quando sto cucinando, o quando sto facendo qualcosa di completamente diverso dalla musica. Ho bisogno di stare da sola, con me stessa, per immergermi profondamente, per sentire di cosa sta parlando la mia anima. Penso che, in un certo senso, tutti gli artisti non stiano scrivendo canzoni, sono semplicemente bravi ad ascoltare ciò che le loro anime stanno parlando e così scrivono.
6) Nel mondo di oggi quale è il ruolo della musica?
Penso che la musica rilascia molti sentimenti. Ha il ruolo di rilassare le persone, di divertirsi, di aprire i sentimenti ricordando alcune situazioni di vita, crea momenti soddisfacenti o semplicemente unisce le persone. Quante persone si sono innamorate durante un concerto, sposarsi durante la loro musica preferita o avere una canzone preferita in comune. Quindi, questo è bellissimo. Ma, parlando dell’industria musicale, non sono sicura sul cosa pensare – vedo così tante cose commerciali e le regole del denaro al di sopra della creatività. Penso che gli artisti abbiano qualche missione di guidare le persone, ma in modo onesto e buono. Il ruolo di oggi mi mostra esattamente il contrario, ascoltando un sacco di testi su sesso, droghe, corpi nudi, soldi. Non sono sicura, se questa morale è sostenibile per le generazioni future, perché stanno copiando le stelle e il loro comportamento.
7) Oltre alla musica, quali arti preferisci?
Mi piace ballare, mi diverto a vedere alcune danze come l’hip-hop, la salsa o la danza acrobatica: è così stimolante e affascinante. E amo anche cucinare. Questa è davvero un’arte speciale. Non tutti hanno questo talento. Tutte queste fusioni di spezie e ingredienti – amano semplicemente assaggiare specialità di varie culture e paesi.
8) Ti occupi di organizzare e gestire musicisti e spettacoli. Puoi parlare di questa cosa?
Sì, non ho alcuna direzione o agenzia dietro di me, al momento devo fare tutto il processo di gestione, prenotazione e marketing. Dalla prenotazione, il processo di comunicazione con gli organizzatori dell’evento e anche con i musicisti, o controllare la sala prove migliore. Sto conducendo in questo momento l’intero processo, dal songwriting al finale di un prodotto.
9) Eri all’Eurovision Song Contest 2016. Che emozioni provavi?
Ero alla preselezione dell’Austria, con i migliori dieci candidati per le finali. E ‘stato davvero eccitante. Non ho alcuna esperienza sull’intero processo per le Preselezioni ESC, perché è stato il mio primo grande show televisivo, con trasmissioni LIVE. Abbiamo provato per cinque giorni: soundcheck, fotocamere, giochi di luce, registi tagliati e molti altri. Ero molto nervosa e molto stanca e in questo momento devi dare il massimo, a soli 3 minuti. E’ stato davvero difficile, ma l’ho fatto e mi sono divertito molto. E’ stata una grande esperienza.
10) Nell’autunno 2019 verrà pubblicato il tuo EP “A Strangers Soul” con un totale di cinque brani. Puoi dirci qualcosa su questo Ep?
L’EP avrà 5 canzoni. Ogni canzone sarà diversa e unica. Ho intenzione di mettere una grande ballata, nello stile di Adele. Una canzone sarà più dance / folk / pop e l’altra molto seria, con testi e messaggi molto profondi. Siamo nel processo di produzione in questo momento e non vedo l’ora di vedere le reazioni del pubblico.

1)Can you tell us a bit about your music?
My music is an expression of me, my identity, my roots and my life-expierences. It represents me in a kind of way. I write and compose my music by myself. It’s a fusion of pop, rock, soul, r’nB and Soul. I love Soul and Blues Music, I feel most comfortable when I sing it, it fits well to my interpretation and I just enjoy it, when I sing it.
2)When and how did you start making music?
As child, I used to listen the music of the ex-yu-pop-rock scene. I discovered really early the passion and love for singing, i think I was 3 or 4 years old, when I start to climb up on my bed and sing my pipes off. I amused all the family members.
3)”Can’t Breathe” is officially out. How was it born?
I wrote “Can’t Breathe” 4 years ago. I don’t remember, if the lyrics or melody came first, but I knew, I wanted something dynamical, explosive, something strong. I didn’t talk for years about some topic that bothers me, especially because nobody understood what I am talking about. I think, this song was a huge vulcano came out from me, as the result of all the years of silence. It’s about breaking walls, it’s about special connections – we all are connected in this world, with invisible wire – like wlan’s. You know, when you think of someone, and in same second you get a call from this person. It’s some kind of philosophical, with deep meaning- “our life is moving, and we are moving our lifes” we control our life, but in the end, the life is moving us without our control. I like to write deep lyrics with a specific message. So everybody can maybe find himself in it.
4)What are your inspirations for song lyrics?
I am a very open-minded, communicative person, but also very sensitive – You just have to be very open, if you want receive something back, or come to you if you do something creative. I have the talent to overview very quick specific situations, atmospheres, or everything what’s “in between” humans. So if something happens in my life, what is unusual to me, I write it down as a theory, you know, like a scientist. I am always researching fields of humans, analysing it. I am a huge human lover and if a situation affects myself, my feelings, I have to sing about, to set my feelings free. I need always some summeries of a relationship for example, analyse the results of en ending, to have an answer, which brings you to be smarter next time.
5)How do your songs come to life? What kind of environment do you create for yourself when you’re writing a song?
Hm, I acutally do not write often songs. I do not push myself. I just know, that every song came in situations when I am totally relaxed. Mostly when I am cooking, or when I am doing something totally different than music. I need to be alone, with myself, to dive deep, to hear what actually my soul are talking about. I think, in some kind of way, all the artists are not writing songs, they are just good in it listen what their souls are speaking through and so they write it down.
6)In today’s world what is the role of music?
I think Music releases a lot of feelings. It has the role to relax people, to have fun, to open up the feelings by remembering of some life-situations, it creates satisfying moments or it just bind people together. how much people fell in love during a concert, marry during their favourite music or have a favourite song in common. So, thats kind of beautiful. But, talking about music industry, i am not sure what to think about – I see so many commercial things and the money rules above the creativity. i think artists has some mission to guide people, but in a good and honest way. Todays role show me just the opposite, by hearing a lot of lyrics about sex, drugs, naked bodies, money. I am not sure, if this morals are sustainable for the next generations, because they are copying the stars and their behavior.
7)In addition to music, which arts do you prefer?
I love to dance, i enjoy to see some dancing acts like hip-hop, salsa or acrobatic dance, thats so inspiring and fascinating. And I also love to cook. this is really a special art. Not everyone has this talent. All this fusions of spices and ingredients – just love to taste specialities from various cultures and countries.
8)You take care of organizing and managing musicians and shows. Can you talk about this thing?
Yeah, I have no management or any agency behind me, At the moment I have to do the whole management, booking and marketing process. From the booking, the communication process with the event organisators and also dealing with musicians, or check the best rehearsal room,. I am leading right now the whole process – from the songwriting to the grand final of an product.
9)You were at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016. What emotions did you feel?
I was at the preselection of Austria, with the best ten candidates for the finals. It was really exciting. I really haven’t any experience about the whole process for the ESC-Preselections, because it was my first big TV-Show, with LIVE broadcasting. We rehearsed five days – soundcheck, cameras, light shows, directors cut and many more. I was very nervous and very tired and in this moment you have to give your best, just within 3 minutes. It was really tough, but I did it and I had a lot of fun. It was a great experience.
10)In autumn 2019 your EP “A Strangers Soul” will be released with a total of five songs. Can you tell us something about this Ep?
The EP will have 5 Songs. Each Song will be different and unique. I plan to put a grand ballade, in Adele’s Style. One Song will be in the manier of dance/folk/pop and the other Song is very serious, with very deep lyrics and message behind it. We are in the production process right now and I can’t wait to see the reactions of the public.
