Benvenuto su system failure. Come è nato Act7 Records?
Act7 è stato formato con l’obiettivo di servire musica dance pura e non dilatata proveniente dall’Australia a un pubblico mondiale. Abbiamo sempre guardato alla scena in altri paesi e sentivamo che l’Australia non aveva la stessa atmosfera o livello di esposizione, quindi l’etichetta è stata creata per consentire al nostro team l’opportunità di svolgere un ruolo nel cambiare il paradigma.
Musica da club quindi. Perché questo genere musicale e non altri?
Abbastanza semplice, l’etichetta è stata fondata da un DJ di club e costruita attorno a un amore inequivocabile per la musica dance e la vita notturna.
Attenzione all’eccellenza. system failure condivide questa visione. Quali sono i criteri e le modalità con cui scegliete i vostri artisti?
Unicità e individualità. Poiché le fondamenta dell’etichetta sono audaci e diverse, è essenziale che i potenziali artisti apportino un livello personale di autenticità al catalogo.
“ACT7: 7ACTS I” è un’eccellente compilation. Verranno rilasciate altre compilation del genere in futuro? Puoi dirci qualcosa sui progetti futuri?
Grazie! Rilasceremo sicuramente più di queste compilation (II, III e così via). Ci piace l’idea di poter pubblicare più artisti diversi e incrociare i generi in un unico corpo di lavoro. La nostra lista di rilasci è piena per il resto dell’anno e abbiamo in programma di annunciare alcuni nuovi entusiasmanti acquisti nei prossimi mesi.
Quanto sono importanti i concerti e la musica dal vivo per esaltare la musica di un artista secondo te?
Questo è importantissimo per noi. Essendo orientati alla musica da club, i nostri artisti e performer fanno molto affidamento sulla scena della vita notturna. Per noi, la musica di Act7 viene vissuta al meglio in un ambiente dal vivo: l’emozione e i ricordi che arrivano con i dischi sono ciò che speriamo di rimanere nel pubblico.
“Musica house lungimirante che spinge i confini”. Puoi commentare questa frase?
Ogni versione è mirata a spingere i confini di ciò che è stato fatto in passato. Cerchiamo artisti che mirino ad essere all’avanguardia e utilizzino gli elementi costitutivi che i pionieri del genere hanno posto per aprire la strada al futuro della musica house.
Quali sono le difficoltà per un’etichetta indipendente?
Spesso scopriamo che le nostre idee vanno al di là delle capacità/budget dei nostri piccoli team. Invece di un ostacolo, lo vediamo come un modo per essere più creativi nel modo in cui promuoviamo i progetti Act7 e siamo fiduciosi che non sarà così a lungo.

Welcome to system failure. How was Act7 Records born?
Act7 was formed with the goal to serve up pure, undilated dance music originating from Australia to a worldwide audience. We’ve always looked to the scene in other countries and felt that Australia didn’t have the same vibe or level of exposure, so the label was created to allow our team the opportunity to play a part in changing the paradigm.
Club music then. Why this musical genre and not others?
Pretty simple, the label was founded by a club DJ and built around an unequivocal love for dance music and the nightlife scene.
Attention to excellence. On system failure we share this vision. What are the criteria and the ways in which you choose your artists?
Uniqueness and individuality. Being that the foundation of the label is being bold and different, it’s essential that prospective artists bring a personal level of authenticity to the catalogue.
“ACT7: 7ACTS I” is an excellent compilation. Will other such compilations be released in the future? Can you tell us anything about your future projects?
Thank you! We will definitely be releasing more of these compilations (II, III and so on) We love the idea of being able to release multiple different artists and cross genres in the one body of work. Our release slate is full for the remainder of the year and we plan to announce some exciting new signings in the coming months.
How important are concerts and live music to enhance the music of an artist in your opinion?
This is super important for us. Being club music orientated, our artists and performers rely heavily on the night life scene. For us, the music on Act7 is best experienced in a live setting – the emotion and memories that come with the records are what we hope to stick with the audience.
“Forward-thinking house music that pushes boundaries”. Can you comment on this sentence?
Each and every release is targeted at pushing the boundaries of what has been done in the past. We look for artists who aim to be ahead of the curve and use the building blocks the pioneers of the genre have laid to pave the way toward the future of house music.
What are the difficulties for an independent label?
We often find that our ideas are beyond our small teams capabilities/budgets. Instead of an obstacle, we see this as a way to be more creative with the way we promote Act7 projects, and are confident this won’t be the case for long.
