Hypnodial – Sub

“Sub” è un ep composto dalla titletrack e da un remix della stessa. Ogni traccia è lunga 27 minuti e le due canzoni si presentano come “gemelle”. Per la loro lunghezza le due canzoni valgono per un ep intero da ascoltare tutto di un fiato.

Per quanto riguarda la “Sub” title-track le sonorità che ascoltiamo sono comuni con alcune sonorità di “Aether Alcoves”, album di Hypnodial il quale abbiamo recensito qualche anno fa e la cui recensione trovate al seguente link(https://www.systemfailurewebzine.com/hypnodial-aether-alcoves/). Sonorità ambient, cinematografiche, sonorità da colonna sonora che starebbero benissimo sotto un film o una serie di David Lynch, sonorità che vediamo bene anche come colonna sonora di alcune scene di “Blade Runner 2049”.

Come “Aether Alcoves” anche “Sub” è molto notturno, stupendamente dark. Tappeti sonori tanto marziali catturano la nostra attenzione: rimaniamo allibiti dinanzi a muri sonori impenetrabili attraversati ogni tanto da bagliori di luce. Hypnodial riesce a creare, allo stesso tempo, ambientazioni notturne ed epifanie sonore di straordinaria bellezza.

Lo stile di Hypnodial è inconfondibile: basta premere play e il suo mondo sonoro intenso e passionale ti avvolge e spinge la tua mente a viaggiare. La produzione sonora è oltre che buona ma quello che davvero sconvolge di questo artista sono sia la sua inventiva che la sua capacità di ricamare pattern che si susseguono come sequenze e che sfumano uno nell’altro portandoci talvolta musica austera, talvolta musica solenne o pungente, talvolta musica tanto profonda, ampia, cavernosa.

In alcuni tratti di “Sub”, per alcuni suoni, ci sembra di essere metri e metri immersi nell’oceano: Hypnodial crea un vuoto esistenziale sotto forma di onde sonore criptiche. Hypnodial non ci fa mancare piccoli sussulti sonori che sono come i battiti del nostro cuore…

La seconda versione di “Sub” è un remix e ricalca le sonorità già ascoltate nella canzone precedente. Forse la seconda versione è ancora più ipnotica della prima(altra qualità di Hypnodial) perché alcuni muri sonori sono davvero come coltre per le nostre orecchie. Anche qui il nostro petto si agita e sussulta: le onde sonore avvolgono i nostri pensieri e ci spingono ad immaginare tanto…alcuni tratti verso la fine della canzone sono davvero impetuosi, violenti e sembrano voler imitare l’impeto dei marosi.

C’è del mistico nell’ascoltare la musica di Hypnodial: i suoi ascoltatori sono come asceti davanti all’illuminazione. Hypnodial è come un’esteta dell’800 che si appassiona davanti allo spettacolo della natura, dell’infinito…Bisogna custodire i dischi di questo artista come monili preziosi perché è raro trovare musica simile nel “mainstream” sonoro contemporaneo.

As for the “Sub” title-track the sounds we hear are common with some sounds of “Aether Alcoves”, a Hypnodial album we reviewed a few years ago and whose review can be found at the following link (https: // www. systemfailurewebzine.com/hypnodial-aether-alcoves/). Ambient soundtracks, soundtracks that would sound great under a film or a series by David Lynch, sounds that we see well also as the soundtrack of some scenes of “Blade Runner 2049”.

Like “Aether Alcoves” even “Sub” is very nocturnal, beautifully dark. Such martial sound carpets capture our attention: we remain astonished before impenetrable sound walls crossed occasionally by flashes of light. Hypnodial manages to create, at the same time, nocturnal settings and sound epiphanies of extraordinary beauty.

The style of Hypnodial is unmistakable: just press play and its intense and passionate sound world envelops you and pushes your mind to travel. The sound production is very good, but what really upsets this artist are both his inventiveness and his ability to embroider patterns that follow each other like sequences and that fade into one another sometimes bringing us austere music, sometimes solemn or pungent music, sometimes so deep, wide, cavernous music.

In some sections of “Sub”, for some sounds, we seem to be meters and meters immersed in the ocean: Hypnodial creates an existential void in the form of cryptic sound waves. Hypnodial does not make us miss small sonorous leaps that are like the beating of our heart …

The second version of “Sub” is a remix and follows the sounds already heard in the previous song. Perhaps the second version is even more hypnotic than the first (another quality of Hypnodial) because some sound walls are really like a blanket for our ears. Here too our chest shakes and trembles: the sound waves envelop our thoughts and push us to imagine so much … some sections towards the end of the song are really impetuous, violent and seem to want to imitate the impetus of the waves.

There is a mystic in listening to Hypnodial music: his listeners are like ascetics before enlightenment. Hypnodial is like an 1800 esthete who is passionate about the spectacle of nature, of infinity … We need to keep the records of this artist as precious jewels because it is rare to find similar music in the “mainstream” contemporary sound.
