Asylum Pyre – N°4
Ombeline “OXY” Duprat(voce), Johann “JAE” Cadot(chitarra, voce, programming), Pierre-Emmanuel “WIK” Pélisson(chitarra), Fabien “HED” Mira(basso)e Thomas “KAS” Calegari(batteria) formano la band francese melodic metal dal nome Asylum Pyre. Qui parliamo del loro album “N°4”. System failure lo ha ascoltato e quelle che seguono sono le nostre considerazioni a riguardo.
L’opener “Lullaby for the Clairvoyant” ci introduce alcune tra le peculiarità principali della band: la presenza dell’elettronica e il cantato tanto ammaliante di Oxy. Poi arriva “One day” con inserti electro e Jae che accompagna la voce la lead vocalist tutto in un gothic metal che manda il nostro pensiero ai Beyond the black di Jennifer Haben. I riff sono potenti, le orchestrazioni stupende, come pure l’alternarsi tra le due voci. Pezzo molto solenne e melodico.
“Sex, Drugs and Scars” alterna parti symphonic metal con altre electro: infatti ascoltando questa band non è difficile pensare pure ad Amaranthe. Pezzo, invece, tanto entusiasmante questo. Qui la sezione ritmica è notevole come pure il songwriting. Come non notare un assolo di chitarra strabiliante nel pezzo. “Lady Ivi” presenta refrain incredibili e un’essenza più power metal. Infatti, Asylum Pyre riesce a fondere benissimo gothic metal, power metal, symphonic metal ed electro in un sound vorticoso e tanto stratificato. Con “Lady Ivi” a tratti pensiamo agli italiani Frozen Crown.
“On First Earth” ci mostra muri sonori invalicabili come pure tanta estensione vocale da parte della vocalist, cose che troviamo anche altrove nell’album. OXY è capace di destreggiarsi tra tanti registri vocali, una delle colonne portanti di questa band. Anche questo pezzo tanto solenne, un’altra delle peculiarità della band. Qui come altrove una batteria killer.
“Dearth” è un pezzo terribile che ci travolge letteralmente. L’elettronica qui ha importanza fondamentale come pure la produzione sonora che è eccellente in questo album a nostro parere. “Dearth” è uno dei migliori pezzi di questo album, senza dubbio: heavy, potente, travolgente. “Into the Wild” comincia in modo abbastanza vellutato. Poi la canzone offre altri passaggi gothic metal che possono far pensare pure a certi Lacuna Coil. Il resto dell’album lo lasciamo al vostro ascolto…
Asylum Pyre con “N°4” ci offrono un disco di grande valore. La band ci ha colpito subito quando l’abbiamo conosciuta grazie al video di “One Day”. Il loro è un metal sia potente che tanto pregiato ed aulico. C’è pure tanta tecnica in questa band e tanti richiami alla tradizione heavy metal. Un sound ibrido e stratificato non può che destare attenzione per noi. Asylum Pyre è un ensemble per noi tanto interessante e vi consigliamo l’ascolto di N°4 con tanto ardore…

“Sex, Drugs and Scars” alternates symphonic metal parts with other electro: in fact listening to this band it is not difficult to think of Amaranthe as well. Instead, this piece is so exciting. Here the rhythm section is remarkable as well as the songwriting. How not to notice an amazing guitar solo in the piece. “Lady Ivi” presents incredible refrains and an essence more power metal. In fact, Asylum Pyre manages to blend gothic metal, power metal, symphonic metal and electro very well in a whirling and so stratified sound. With “Lady Ivi” at times we think of the Italians Frozen Crown.
“On First Earth” shows us impassable sound walls as well as a lot of vocal extension by the vocalist, things that we find also elsewhere in the album. OXY is able to juggle many vocal registers, one of the cornerstones of this band. Even this piece is so solemn, another of the band’s peculiarities. Here as elsewhere a killer drum.
“Dearth” is a terrible piece that literally overwhelms us. The electronics here is of fundamental importance as well as the sound production that is excellent in this album in our opinion. “Dearth” is one of the best pieces of this album, without a doubt: heavy, powerful, overwhelming. “Into the Wild” begins in a rather velvety way. Then the song offers other gothic metal passages that can also suggest Lacuna Coil. We leave the rest of the album to your listening …
Asylum Pyre with “N ° 4” offer us a disc of great value. The band immediately struck us when we met her thanks to the “One Day” video. Theirs is a metal that is both powerful and noble. There is also a lot of technique in this band and many references to the heavy metal tradition. A hybrid and layered sound can only draw attention to us. Asylum Pyre is an ensemble so much interesting for us and we recommend listening to N ° 4 with such ardor …
