Compie il 50esimo episodio Electronic Cafe Rendez Vous – Baluardo della musica indipendente UK e non solo. Ogni weekend alle ore 11.00 (ora italiana) su radiokc.fm (Radio Kaos Caribou) va in onda Rich James Presents Electronic Cafe Rendezvous, un programma radio che per un’ora trasmette esclusivamente musica elettronica indipendente, o da etichette indipendenti come la Pink Dolphin Music, fondata dallo stesso presentatore.
Il protagonista é Sir Rich James, attento selezionatore della playlist, con uno spiccato gusto per la qualità e per le novità. Diversi generi di musica elettronica o affini, dalla synthwave al synthpop, alla musica strumentale in stile Jarre, Vangelis passando per il rap, la house, l’EDM / IDM, si alternano in un programma ricco dalle mille sfaccettature, ma abbracciato dall’unico sentimento di fare musica per passione.
L’accento elegantemente British del presentatore introduce le tracce e gli artisti individualmente. Le provenienze di questi non sono solo UK, ma da tutto il mondo; abbiamo Europa, Australia, Medio Oriente, Stati Uniti. La cosa bella intorno al programma é la chat che avviene su twitter durante la trasmissione: gli artisti si piacciono, si commentano, si scambiano battute, follow…nascono amicizie, e molti diventano ascoltatori regolari! Si crea insomma una bella community che aiuta la crescita dei musicisti emergenti. Rich James inizia ad interessarsi di musica fin da giovanissimo, canta e compone in diverse indie rock bands locali, ma poi, influenzato dai fratelli che ascoltavano Ultravox, OMD, Human League, Landscape, Tears for Fears si indirizza verso la musica elettronica in modo abbastanza naturale. In particolare sua sorella aveva dei vinili di bands indipendenti e cominció a pensare che sarebbe stato bello poter aiutare le band più emergenti.
Nel 2010 pubblica digitalmente il suo primo album che fu un buon successo e alcune tracce vennero usate da televisioni locali. Al momento della pubblicazione, era richiesto quale fosse l’etichetta…e inventó il nome ‘Pink Dolphin Music’. Successivamente pensò ad utilizzare lo stesso ‘marchio’ per pubblicare anche musica di altri artisti, e la Pink Dolphin iniziò a crescere.
Nel 2019 inizia il primo Show per Radio Kaos Caribou intitolato ‘The Pink Dolphin Music Podcast’ dove suonava al 90% musica proveniente dalla sua etichetta, ma col crescere delle richieste adesso suona 20% di Pink Dolphin e il resto da altre etichette o artisti indipendenti cambiando nome allo Show in ‘Rich James Presents Electronic Cafe Rendezvous’ che festeggia in queste settimane il 50esimo episodio.
La Pink Dolphin oggi ha in scuderia artisti come Daniel Hall, Emerge1, Cyber Monday, Man with Glasses, Foreign Technology, Victor Ward, Screamershock. Sul panorama della musica attuale Rich pensa che anche nel Mainstream ci siano cose molto buone, tuttavia questo é molto standardizzato e tendente a suonare un po’ tutto uguale. Mentre la musica indipendente é fatta da gente che suona per passione e ci mette veramente il cuore e il proprio vissuto, il guadagno non é assolutamente la priorità. Questo ovviamente permette sperimentazioni e libertà che danno una grande varietà e ricchezza. Electronic Cafe Rendez Vous celebrates its 50th Episode – Milestone of Independent Music in UK and beyond. Every Weekend 10 – 11 AM Uk time, on radiokc.fm (Radio Kaos Caribou) ‘Rich James Presents Electronic Cafe Rendezvous’ goes on air, and for 1 hour you will listen only the best Indipendent Electronic Music, from international indie artists or indie labels like Pink Dolphin Music, owned by the host himself. The protagonist is Sir Rich James, accurate selector of the playlist, with a remarkable taste for quality and new styles. Different genres of electronic music are alternating in the shows, from synthwave to synthpop, from instrumental scores like Jarre and Vangelis passing through rap, house, EDM / IDM, giving life to a rich and multi-facet Show, still embraced by the common spirit of making music for passion. The elegant British accent of the host introduces the tracks and the artists one by one.
The artists though are not only from UK but from all over the World; we have Europe, Middle East, US, Australia… The beautiful side effect of this Show is the chat that happens on Twitter during the airtime: the artists like, comment, follow eachother and exchange jokes and life matters…some friendships are born and many of them become regular listeners! It is a beautiful and supportive community that helps a lot for the growth of emerging artists. Rich James starts to get interested in music since a very young age. He sings and composes in various local indie rock bands, then thanks to the influence of his elder brother and sister, who were listening to Ultravox, OMD, Human League, Landscape, Tears for Fears, the passage to electronic music was quite natural. In particular his sister had some vinyls of independent artists and he started to think that it could be nice to help emerging bands.
In 2010 he releases his first digital album who was a good success, as some of its tracks were selected by TV for broadcasting. At the moment of publication, the system required the name of a label… and there he invented the ‘Pink Dolphin Music’ Later he thought that he could use the same brand to publish music from other artists and Pink Dolphin started to grow.
In 2019 he started his first Show for Radio Kaos Caribou with the name ‘The Pink Dolphin Music Podcast’ where he was playing mostly the music from his label, but as the requests grew he began playing the 20% of Pink Dolphin and the rest from indie artists and labels so the radio Show name changed into ‘Rich James Presents Electronic Cafe Rendezvous’ which is celebrating its 50th episodes in these weeks. Pink Dolphin has now a team of artists like Daniel Hall, Emerge1, Cyber Monday, Man with Glasses, Foreign Technology, Victor Ward, Screamershock. Regarding the actual music panorama, Rich thinks that there is still some great stuff in the Maistream, although the tendency is to standardize and make everything sound the same. On the other hand independent music is produced by people who plays for passion and put theis hearts and their lives in it. The monetary gain is not at all a priority. This indeed allows more freedom to experiment, which gives great variety and richness.
